Impatient, Unpractical (Chapter 34)

*Mononoke’s P.O.V*

I ran to the team as quickly as possible and the quicker I ran, my body, I just couldn’t figure it out, but I felt cold. My blood felt like it was made of ice and even with all my movement I was still cold. My breath was still shallow and now my vision was starting to go hazy, but I ignored it, I had to. Right now I had made it and when I looked at what was going on I saw I giant sneak with a ninja standing on its head. I was standing to the side of them as they were both standing in front of Sasuke and he was just standing there frozen. Naruto was pinned to a tree, unconscious, and Sakura stood to the side to and as always she was just standing there, USELESS! She still didn’t move when that giant sneak made a lung for Sasuke, Sasuke didn’t move either.

“STAY BACK.” I yelled as I performed the jutsu I needed and when I finished instead of saying it out loud I said it in my head, Kaze no Yaiba, Wind Blade jutsu. It hit the sneak and caused it to go sideways and smack into a tree. The person on top lost their balance for a second but regained it and turned to turn to me.

“Well a little kitten had strayed from its path.” He…she, man I’m just gonna call that person an it. I mean what gender is it. Then it continued, “What are you doing here girl?” it said looking at me weirdly, the look was like blood lust and curiosity mixed together. I’m allowed to say that is creepy right.

“MONONOKE RUN!” Someone yelled and when I turned to that voice I saw Sasuke looking at me with some emotion in his eyes for once, but it was a look of desperation. Why was he so…then it hit me…or grabbed me. I giant sneak appeared behind me and picked me up with its tongue, ah nasty, it’s even worse for me because the way my outfit is made exposes my midriff so this thing has its tongue on my skin; it was like I was wrapped in a slimy blanket. It had its tongue wrapped around me so that my arms where clung to my sides as my legs dangled freely. It dangled me, for some odd reason, upside down in front of the he-she. My face at the moment was in a permanent glare as I looked at the guy straight in the eye.

*Sasuke’s P.O.V*

I watched as the sneak dangled Mononoke upside down in front of that demon, and even then I still wasn’t able to move. I was afraid that we all would die and worried that the demon would kill us. Then that demon placed a hand on Mononoke’s cheek and as she caressed her cheek she started to play with Mononoke’s hair with the other hand, and even then I could hear a growl form in Mononoke’s throat and even in mine for some reason.

“Ya damn pedophile, put me down and get your hands off me before I rip it off.” She yelled but I couldn’t see her expression since they were turned at an odd angle to me. She never changes does she?

“My, what a temper you have, but you know you really shouldn’t be like that.” That monster said as she flicked Mononoke’s forehead. Nothing happened at first but then she started to cough and started to spit up blood, what happened?

“You’re a lot more fragile then you show yourself aren’t you?” It said and then started to laugh like a manic. All the while Mononoke still had blood coming out of her mouth. The sneak finally dropped her and she was sitting in front of that demon folding her mouth as she was still coughing. After that she just…stopped, right in the middle, and then collapsed, but before then, she had brought out a kunai, and…stabbed that grass ninja in the foot.

“Hm I may not be able to do much now…but that doesn’t mean I can’t do anything.” She said as a smirk was even heard in her voice. The ninja’s eyes widen and then looked to its foot that had the kunai in it to see a paper bomb strapped to it. When she looked it exploded sending both of them flying off the sneaks head. The demon ninja caught itself though by sticking to a tree using chakra, Mononoke on the other hand…she was just flying in the air with some soot and dirt on her and it looked like her eyes were glazed over and she didn’t even try to catch herself or anything. Just as she was about to crash into a tree Sakura came and caught her. That’s new.

“Momo wake up, Momo?!” Sakura said as she propped her up on a tree trunk and then started to shake her shoulders. Mononoke was completely knocked out and her jaw and clothes had blood on it from coughing earlier and a few burn marks from the explosion.

“SASUKE do something!!” Sakura yelled to me as I stood there still stunned, but what Naruto said a while ago started to get to me, about how I was being a coward and then what my brother said to me all those years ago came to my mind. Mononoke then started to turn and then she sat up a little shaky.

“Momo what are you doing?” Sakura said as she tried to hold Mononoke down to the trunk but failed. Mononoke didn’t say a word but then started to glare at me. It was like she was telling me something and I already knew what she was thinking. Disappointment and resentment was clear in her eyes and I could tell what she was thinking, coward, but then out of nowhere another sneak came out of nowhere and started to attack her. It’s jaws had a firm grip on her arm as she sat there trying to pull it off, and FINALLY, my legs allowed me to move and I ran over to her and killed it with a kunai so that it would let go of her. When it was off she looked at me with an expression that probably meant “WTF” for her at least.

“Sasuke you confuse me.” She said as she still looked at me with a slight glare. In the background I could her that demon laughing for some reason. Sakura got Momo for the moment and looked at her arm, and again in that instant Mononoke’s eyes looked like they were glazed over as Sakura looked at her. I turned back over to that demon and it looked at me, that feeling of being afraid came back but it wasn’t as strong this time.

“Any minute now that girl will be dead, that sneak had highly poisonous venom in it, that glazed look in her eyes shows it is already starting to kill her.” It said watching Sakura start to panic at the moment, Sakura started to yell Mononoke’s name but it did nothing. Her head started to dip a little and then finally she fell.

“No.” I said, but I don’t really know why I did. At this point I was thinking of both what my brother said and about the fact that Mononoke was now dead, and all because I was afraid, I didn’t help her even when she was right in front of me. Am I a coward?

“No!” I yelled as I activated my Sharingan. I can’t be a coward, not anymore and not now. If I am then I won’t be able to face my brother and… Naruto, Sakura, Mononoke…all I’ve cared about was surviving in order to face my brother, but if I haven’t the courage to face this demon then how will I face him.

*Mononoke’s P.O.V/Time Skip*

“SASUKE NO!” I heard yelling, and a dark chuckle but I couldn’t move not even a little. I was alone on top of a branch and I could see them, all of them, Sasuke, Sakura, and that he-she, but my vision was still blurry and I didn’t want to believe what I saw, Sasuke was balled up holding his neck while Sakura was looming over him trying to help him.

“You, what have you done to Sasuke?!” Sakura yelled still shaking a little.

“I just gave him a little parting gift. Very soon Sasuke will seek me out and desire my power. In the mean time I enjoyed the demonstration of the power’s you already possess.” It said with a more male tone then before, before it sank into the tree itself while laughing demonically. When he was gone Sasuke screamed out in total and utter agony. I watched as Sakura tried to help him by letting him squeeze her hand to let some of the pain out but he was still whimpering from all the pain until he finally blacked out from all the pain.

“MONONOKE, NARUTO, SASUKE’S HURT. I NEED YOU!!!” Sakura yelled, and I wanted to move to help her, but my body had other ideas, it wanted to stay where it was at and try to heal itself. I still couldn’t breathe right, and my eyes weren’t working at all. All I could do was lay where I was at and try to heal myself. I failed, and when I thought that I felt my eyes start to water a little, but I won’t let them leave my eyes. I can’t, not even in a nightmare, my nightmare.
