Yes, Remus taught the third years how to deal with Boggarts because it was a skill that may well help them in later life, but he also taught them for a deeper reason, he knew all to well how scary facing your biggest fears was, but to him the most important part of the lesson was that even your worst nightmares could be made dreams with laughter, kind of how for 4 years full moons became adventures with his best friends rather than gruelling nights of agony.
