When in werewolf form, 'Moony' considered Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs as pack, when Remus realised this, he told Sirius that the easiest way to get Moony under control would be to name Padfoot the Alpha one full moon.
Needless to say that was the only time Sirius tried fighting Remus for dominance.
