James was really observant in the strangest of ways, for example;
He was the first to notice that something wasn't quite right about Remus, he spotted every sign of lycanthropy but even Peter pieced together the information before him.
He watched as Sirius and Remus grew closer and more intimate with each other but freaked the fuck out when they came out.
He noted Peter growing ever distant during their last year at Hogwarts and worried increasingly as they saw him less and less during the war, but never once did he think they would be betrayed because he trusted him, through thick and thin James trusted in Peter, but look where that got him.
