Faith (P.O.V.)

For some reason, I've had a fantastic morning.

I don't know, but maybe my morning has been incredible because I made a new friend, Ray Wyatt.

After Max, he is the second realist person I met in San Diego.

Yesterday, after the weird thing with you know who, I was getting my bag out of my locker when Ray arrived.

He asked me how my day had been and told me a little about his day.

Then, after we finished our conversation, he asked for my number.

I gave him my number and woke up to his 'good morning' text this morning.

He is a nice person, unlike you know who. He's human, unlike you know who.

I don't even know why he is friends with you, know who.

How's that even possible? One is so sweet, and the other is stone-hearted.

Anyway, I won't ruin my morning by thinking about you know who.

It's confirmed that he is officially bad for my health.

If I want to stay healthy, I need to not think about evil people like you know who.

So I'll see you at the library in twenty minutes? - Ray

Ray's message pulled me out of my train of thought.

I quickly replied to his message as I walked into the kitchen for breakfast.

There was nobody in the kitchen yet.

"Nobody's coming down for breakfast!" I called out loud enough for Grandma and Dad to hear me.

There is no reply.

Maybe I'm really early today.

I got a bowl of cereal and was about to sit down when something bright and sparkly caught my eye.

I looked down and saw a necklace on the floor.

I bent down and picked up the necklace.

It is a split heart necklace that was made out of real gold.

One half was gone, while the half I held had the words, 'To you, my heart.'

It's weird because I've never seen a necklace like this at my house. And that too an expensive one like this.

I looked at the back of the necklace to see if there was any date or name, but nothing.

"Whose necklace is that?"

I looked up and saw that it was grandma.

"I don't know." I said, "I was thinking that maybe it is yours."

"That?" Grandma chuckled. "Oh no, baby, that is too expensive for me. I can't afford a necklace like that. And fo' what reason would I keep a necklace like that? Your grandpa was broke his whole life. Even if he worked a lifetime, he wouldn't have afforded a necklace like that."

"Grandma, come on."

"It's the truth."

"I don't understand what an expensive necklace like this is doing in our house. I mean, look at it. This is real gold. Whose necklace is t-"

"NOT YOURS!" Keisha interrupted, snatching the necklace out of my hand.

"KEISHA!" I yelled in annoyance. "What the hell? Why would you snatch it out of my hand like t-"
