Faith (P.O.V.):

"Faith Davis, would you give me the honor of becoming my girlfriend? I am in love with you and want to be with you. Will you be my girlfriend?"

Ray's words echoed everywhere.

It was silent at first, but then everyone in the hallway cheered.

All of them hassled me into saying yes to him.

"Damn, Wyatt!" Somebody exclaimed. "Get some!"

"Say yes!" Some girls yelled.

Ray smiled happily.

"Will you?" He asked again.

I looked at Evan, who was acting strange at the moment.

He's not looking at me.

He's like literary avoiding me.

Why is he acting like this?

I don't get it.

We have been together through so much, and now, when it's finally the moment to tell Ray the truth so that he can stop being delusional, he's not even saying a thing.

Forget saying anything; he has his hands in his pockets, and he's acting like all this isn't affecting him.

"Faith, I'm still waiting for your answer," Ray said, interrupting my thoughts. "Will you?"

Everybody looked in anticipation, waiting for my answer.

"Say yes!" They all yelled.

"Say yes, chica!" Liliana exclaimed. "He's asking you out in front of everybody! Ay, tan romántica!"

Mary nudged me, looking concerned.

"Come on, Davis!" Mason said. "The kid is on his knees for you! Say y-"

"No," I interrupted.

Ray's smile faded while everybody stopped yelling, and the hallway became silent.

Evan looked up at me for the first time since this charade started.

He seemed surprised that I said no to Ray.

"What?" Ray asked, looking shocked.

"No," I said again, looking at Evan.

"There...There...There must be a misunderstanding here..." Ray said, standing up. "I mean, there really must be...Faith...I-I-I know that there's a misunderstanding h-"

"Damn, Ray!" Mason exclaimed. "There's no misunderstanding here. She said no."

Ray looked at me in confusion.

"Hey everybody, Faith just rejected Ray!" Mason exclaimed once again.

Everybody started to murmur and whisper as soon as he said.

Ray took my hands, holding them up.

"Faith, there has to be a misunderstanding here." He repeated, getting everybody silent again. "I know that there is a misunderstanding here. I know you feel the same way about me. I can feel it. We have something real. What we have is more real than anything else in this world. There's something that keeps us connected. The way we met, then became friends. All of it is unique and out of this world. I don't only like you, I'm in love with you."

I looked at Evan again.

He immediately looked away, acting unknown to the entire situation.
