17: Azog & I Don't Get Along

I searched for Bilbo and he was nowhere to be found. Gandalf was counting all of us.

"Curse that Halfling! Now he's lost?" Dwalin said and I swatted his arm.

I saw a glint and blinked; it was gone.

"I thought he was with Dori!" One of the dwarves claimed.

Dori replied, "Don't blame me!"

"Well where did you last see him?" Gandalf asked.

"I think I saw him slip away when theys first caught us," Nori said.

Gandalf demanded, "And what happened exactly?! Tell me!"

"I'll tell you what happened. Master Baggins saw his chance and he took it." Thorin went on, "He's thought of nothing but his soft bed and his warm hearth since first he stepped out of his door. We will not be seeing our hobbit again."

I rolled my eyes so hard fucking dinosaurs could see it. What the fuck was up with these people, and not believing in Bilbo? Thorin eased up to me no problem and so did Dwalin, so why didn't they like Bilbo? I rested my head on Dwalin's shoulder.

"No," Bilbo said and we all turned.

I laughed and smiled. "Nice of you to join us."

He smiled at me.

"Bilbo Baggins, I have never been so pleased to see anyone in my entire life," Gandalf said and smiled.

"We had given you up!" Kili smiled.

Fili asked, "How on earth did you get past the goblins?"

"How indeed," said Dwalin.

Bilbo nervously laughed and put something in his pocket. It was the same glint I saw earlier. What was this little shit hiding?

Gandalf said, "Well what does it matter? He's here now."

"It matters." Thorin said.

Jesus shit, dude. Let the man be.

"Why did you come back?" He continued.

Well that took an unexpected turn. I approve. COMMENCE!

"Look, I know you doubt me, and I know you always have. And you're right I often think of Bag End. I miss my books, and my armchair, and my garden. See that's where I belong, that's home. And that's why I came back, because you don't have one. Yours was taken from you. And I will help take it back if I can," Bilbo spoke.

Bilbo ended his speech and I almost teared up. I smiled and Thorin bowed his head.

Wow, I can not be the only one shipping this.

All the dwarves were silently taking in what Bilbo said, and I think they finally believed in him. I heard something in the distance and my ears twitched.

The voices began.

Kill.

It sounded like one of those zombies with a deeper, darker voice that gave you chills.

Kill. Kill! Kill!

I turned.

I said, "You know I have to break up his heartfelt situation, but we've got some company."

Everyone else turned, and the howls finally sounded.

"Out of the frying pan," Thorin said.

"And into the fire. Run. RUN!" Gandalf continued.
