34: Echoing Castle

"Let's ask my uncle where everything is. Maybe he can tell us where to go!" He grabbed my arm and pulled me along.

I laughed at his enthusiasm and ran with him. We called out for Thorin and I heard heavy footsteps.

"You two are like little children. What are you doing calling for me?" Thorin's hands were behind his back.

I looked at his head, "Where'd you get the-"

"I wanted to take Andiel around Erebor! I want to show her our new home. What's the most beautiful place here?"

Thorin chuckled and said, "The whole place is beautiful! You two can take the room two doors down from the king's chamber, third floor. The most beautiful place is the gold room. I've never seen such gold."

"Thorin, are you okay?" I put my hand on his shoulder.

His expression changed, "Quickly, come!"

He grabbed my right hand and yanked me forward. I winced in pain but followed along. Kili ran behind us.

"Take a necklace. Meet us at the rampart," he said gruffly and walked away.

I started, "Kili, this whole room is full of necklaces. How do I-"

I gasped as I felt something cold hit my neck. I looked down at it was a beautiful gold necklace with something in the middle.

"Is this a-"

"Moon gem. Because it's almost as beautiful as you," he stepped from behind me.

I smiled and looked down. He gently turned my head and kissed me. I didn't want it to end, but I remembered Throin said meet him at the rampart. I pulled away from him and he looked confused.

"Come on I think Thorin needs us," we ran to the rampart and dwarves I had never seen before in my life were piling in the castle.

"Ah! Thorin, what is this?" I asked confused to no one in particular.

"Dain!" Thorin yelled from up top and I looked up at him.

Who the fuck is Dain?

"Throin!" I looked down at a dwarf near me.
He gave off this boar vibe with his beard and Mohawk. And also maybe because he was on a boar.

"How long has it been?" Dain asked.

Thorin replied, "Too long!"

"Who's that?" I whispered to Kili.

"Dain Ironfoot. Thorin's cousin," he smiled at Dain.

I looked between the three confused.

The last dwarf came in and Thorin shouted, "THERE WILL BE A PARTY TOMORROW NIGHT! WE ARE CELEBRATING THE RETURN OF OUR HOME!"

"HAIL TO THE KING!" Everyone yelled, even Kili.

They said something in Khuzdul, and Kili translated it to a respectful phrase. I had learned how to write Dwarvish from Kili, but I only knew Khuzdul curse words from Thorin. Dain started commanding his dwarves to do things and I was confused again.

"Um Kili, where are the women?" I asked him as we walked through all the dwarves cleaning the place up.

"Look there's one," he stood next to me and pointed.

The woman looked like a man, but when she turned I understood.

It clicked in my head, "Oh so that's what you meant when you said you all looked alike."
