((Posting today because even I'm not a mean person. That last cliffhanger was brutal, yet great I think. Also...ALMOST 200 VIEWS!! Thanks!! So viola!))
You wanted to disarm him, but a voice in your head tried reasoning for him. He was mourning, hurting, and blinded by rage. He couldn't possibly want to hurt you, right? But you had to say something to make him calm.
"Max...please. Put the gun down." You coaxed, your voice wavered slightly.
"I feel like I can't trust you general....this shouldn't have happened to her..." Max replied, his sentence was interrupted by a sob. You stared into his eyes as he stared back, tears dripping off his cheeks.
"I know. You have to trust me when I say, I didn't want this to happen either." You said while holding both hands to your chest and trying to express genuine emotions. He looked down and hiccuped. He was a mess, you could tell and you hated seeing him like this. "Lower the gun, before you do something you regret." You pleaded. He looked back up at you with eyes that revealed confusion. Hot tears were rolling down your cheeks, but you hardly noticed them.
"You're crying.." He stated. He seemed dumbfounded. Not once had he ever seen you cry since he started living at the Tower. It made him realized how genuine you were and then how stupid he was. Suddenly he dropped the gun and walked a few steps closer to you.
((Background: When you were a child your father had a mental breakdown inside the vault and at the age of 7, held you at gun point unless you helped him break out. After you broke down in tears he put the gun away, hugged you, and left. That was the last you ever saw of your father.))
He held out his hand for you to take. Hesitantly, you reached out to him even though your brain wanted to do the opposite. He took your hand carefully and pulled you closer until you were embracing. Your arms around his neck, he had his arms around your waist.
"(Y/n), I'm really sorry. That was so idiotic of me...I just--" he sighed.
"It's okay, Max. You were just upset. You let your anger control your actions." You sniffed and let the last few tears fall. The embrace felt so nice, you never wanted to leave. However, there was a knock on the door that forced you to pull away. You wiped at your eyes and went to answer the door.
"General, is everything okay?" Adam asked, gazing concerned like at you and your puffy eyes.
"I'm fine. What do you need?" You answered. Sounding much more confident than you felt.
"Well, we were all talking about the funeral or service for Tiffany. But we wanted Max to have a say." He said. You looked over to Max and he smiled halfheartedly.
"We'll be up in a moment." You replied. Adam nodded and left to go back upstairs.
"You'll have to make a decision, Max." You spoke.
"I know what we should do with her, general. I've made a decision." He nodded.
"You can call me (y/n) when we talk in private." You said, turning and leaving the room.
