His eyes fluttered open...
"Hey Max..." You whispered.
"Gah...what happened..." He groaned, trying to sit up. You helped him sit up slowly. He winced at the pain in his stomach, but still managed to sit up. You couldn't take it anymore, you threw your arms around his neck. You were careful not to knock him over, and he wrapped his arms around your back.
"I thought...thought you...were gone.." You sniffed. He rubbed your back slowly to console you.
"I'd never leave you, (Y/n)." He whispered.
After about 10 minutes of just holding each other, you pulled back from him hesitantly. His eyebrows furrowed when he got a look at your face. He wiped some eyeliner off your cheek, and leaned in to kiss your nose.
Suddenly you shot up, tipping your stool over in the process. You grabbed onto the counter to resteady yourself, and Max jumped at your sudden action.
"I have to tell the others...I did it! My medicine worked!" You cried out. You laughed out of pure joy, and quickly limped to the door.
"Hey, take it easy. You're still hurt." Max said. You rolled your eyes at him, but he couldn't see since your back was facing him.
"Yeah yeah, I'm ok." You replied. You left the medical office and as best you could, went upstairs. At the top of the stairs you saw Adam. He stopped and his eyes widened when he saw you.
"Hey...what happened? You look like Frankenstein's bride." He chuckled. Despite the joke, he gave you a concerned glance.
"It's Max. He's alive!" You exclaimed. He narrowed his eyes at you and took your good hand to pull you off the stairs.
"Um, I think you need some rest. How much sleep have you gotten recently?" He asked and began to pull you toward your bedroom.
"Adam, I'm serious! He was talking to me. He's alive! Come see!" You shouted. You were slightly upset that he didn't believe you, but you understood if you really did look as bad as he said.
"(Y/n)...look. I know you loved him but--" he began. You growled, your face turning angry. You grabbed his hand and pulled him toward the stairs again.
"Alright! Alright, let's go look." He surrendered. You guys went back down the stairs but he had to keep am arm around you so you didn't fall. Slowly but surely you made it to the medical office.
"Max, I brought Adam." You said, walking in. Max turned toward the door and smiled a bit. As soon as Adam laid eyes on Max, his face paled.
"Holy shit. You weren't kidding." He mused in a tiny voice. Adam cleared his throat, then looked at you who had a big grin on your face.
"But Barney said..." He began, still unable to form complete sentences.
"Max slipped into a coma. I made a concoction, and pulled him out!" You stated proudly.
In a few minutes, a smile stretched across Adam's face. He walked closer to rest a hand on Max's shoulder.
"Good to have you back, man." He said.
"Good to be back." Max smiled.
During the following weeks, Max, you and Ross healed up from the injuries. You started eating more and became less depressed. Once your arm began healing up, you started working out again and becoming stronger. Everyone was so happy to see you looking better, and happy to see Max walking around the tower again.
