You woke up to the bright sunshine and stretched fully.
As you glanced out the window, it looked like a beautiful day. You had a good feeling about the day ahead. You went to get some food and while eating your breakfast, Max walked in.
"Hey." He greeted you.
"Hey, how did you sleep?" You asked.
"Better. I think I got some closure yesterday." He sighed.
"I'm glad." You smiled a little.
"Woah, was that a smile?" He grinned, after faking a shocked expression. You both laughed. Then Adam walked in.
"What's so funny? Tell a joke? I like jokes!" Adam smiled, grabbing an Apple and sitting down next to Max.
"Don't worry about it." Max replied, his smile fading. You all went back to eating in silence. But not before Adam sent you a smug look. You rolled your eyes at him and you could feel your cheeks flush.
Soon, everybody else woke up and filtered into the dining room. Small conversations broke out among everybody and Max caught your attention. You looked up at him and he cleared his throat.
"So what now?" He asked.
"Well, back to our normal I guess." You shrugged.
"As normal as possible." He nodded.
Just then the bell rang, signaling someone was at the door. You stood up and motioned for Adam and Max to follow you. They grabbed a weapon and followed you downstairs.
"Who is it??" You demanded.
"Commonwealth messenger." A voice replied. You looked at the guys and motioned for them to move the door. Once open, you saw a guy with short ginger hair and dirty clothes. He was carrying a messenger bag with papers in it. You pointed your machete at him and he backed up a little. The guys followed you outside and blocked the door to the tower. You kept your machete pointed at him and held a menacing look on your face.
"Uhh, I have...a-a lett..er." He stuttered.
"Hand it to me." You said. He flinched at the tone of your voice, but complied.
You opened the envelope and read it aloud.
"Dear tower residents, we are the citizens of Tempine's Bluff. A community of just a few people, we have been terrorized constantly by raiders for about a month now. We are requesting assistance in eliminating these raiders. Word has it that your tower is filled with great fighters. We hope this is true. A map is attached to this letter so you can find us. Please consider helping out our community, for there may be a handsome reward for your compliance."
You looked to Max and Adam to gauge their reactions. They both looked skeptical about the letter you just read.
"Handsome reward. Hmm, sounds pretty good." The messenger said in a weird voice. He sounded like a cartoon character. ((Like the Apple voice)) You gave him a sarcastic look.
"Shut up." You snapped and he frowned.
Your conversation was cut short by a growl. You all turned toward the noise to find a group of feral dogs. They got closer and you all fought them off. Then you looked to the messenger who was on the ground, a feral dog gnawing at his shoulder. He was yelling out for help and wiggling around. Adam shot 2 bullets into its head and the dog fell off him.
You walked over to the messenger and grabbed his hand to pull him up. You noticed there were some pretty deep bite marks in his shoulder. You helped him into the tower as Adam and Max closed the door. Once he was in the medical office, you wrapped up his shoulder and he smiled at you.
"Thank you so much! That dog would've eaten me.." He chuckled. You simply nodded. You sat down next to the medical table and Max looked down at you.
"So, will we go after those raiders?" He asked.
"I mean, I guess so." You shrugged. You thought that with the right planning, it would probably be an easy job. Get in, take out the enemies and get out. Then hopefully get paid, or form an alliance with the citizens of Tempine's Bluff. Either way it sounded like a story of bullies picking on the little guy, it made you mad.
"I'll write a letter back to them. Just to see what we're up against. Then we'll decide how many people to take." You said. Max nodded and left the room for a moment.
Adam walked in and began a conversation with the messenger.
"What's your name, man?"
"Well, most people call me red." He chuckled. He certainly was a happy man. Despite what just happened to him.
"Nice, I'm Adam. Welcome to the tower, Red." He smiled, shaking his hand respectively.
"Thanks Adam!" Red responded with that weird character voice again. Adam laughed at the voice this time.
After a while, you left and decided to write the letter back to the residents of Tempine's Bluff. You asked them how many raiders there would be approximately, and told them you were interested in helping them out.
After having Red stay for dinner, you offered to let him stay the night. He seemed like a nice guy. In the morning you would send him off with your letter. You wanted to know as much as you could about the raiders that you would be facing before charging in, guns blazing. In the morning, you made sure he was fed, had weapons, and sent him on his way.
Just before sunset that night, Red appeared at the door. You sat down and read the letter with everyone around you. They estimated that there would be about 30 to 35 raiders inside the large factory. They also wrote that they appreciated the help. You would need everybody on the team if you wanted to extinguish all those raiders. Even the dogs could come to help. ((Your dogs are Adam's and Alesa's dogs, plus your dog if you have one. Up to you.)) But Mason would have to be given to someone while you all left on this mission, and you knew exactly who to give him to.
