((Hey guys! Mid week motivation. I'll probably make an art book soon. I have a lot of art, haha. Anyway...enjoy the feels in this chapter!))
The next morning, you woke up and got breakfast ready. Everyone slowly woke up and made it to the table. They were shocked to find you cooking for them, but they accepted the steaming food regardless.
After breakfast you noticed your dad was acting a little strange. So you decided to confront him about it. You asked him if he was doing okay, and he sighed.
"Well, I came from a settlement. I am worried about everyone there. I think I should go back. But I want you to come with me. Will you?" He asked. You looked up at the ceiling for a while in contemplation.
"Sure. I'll come with you." You agreed.
"Can Max come too?" Your father asked, his eyes were sparkling with excitement.
"Yeah, I'm sure he'll agree, just let me ask him." You nodded, then went to find Max.
You found him in a chair, snoring quietly. He was up a few times last night comforting your daughter so he must have been tired. You sat down in his lap, careful not to wake him. Slowly, you ran your fingers through his hair and he stirred. You placed a soft kiss on his forehead as he opened his eyes.
"Hey babe." He hummed, kissing your cheek.
"Hey, sorry to wake you, but my dad wants to take us back to his settlement. So we can meet them." You said. He smiled at you and nodded.
"Sounds like a nice trip. When do we leave?" He asked. You decided tomorrow morning would be a good time. You'd be able to prepare for the journey ahead.
"Tomorrow morning we'll leave." You replied. You got up and left Max sitting in the chair. "Go back to your nap now. See you later." You grinned, he grinned back and blew you a kiss.
You walked back downstairs in search of your father. You found him in your office, just looking around at all the pictures you had. He heard you open the door, and turned to face you.
"Oh, (Y/n). This is your office then?" He asked, running his hand along the smooth surface of your desk.
"Yeah. As the general, I keep a lot of books and logs. I also have a code of conduct book with everyone's signatures." You said, picking up a dusty book from the shelf. You flipped through it quickly to show your dad. He nodded in approval, then continued to pace around your office.
"Do you have that picture of the three of us?" He asked suddenly. You paused, then pulled a small locket out of your shirt. It was engraved with flowers and inside was the small picture of you as a four year old, with your dad and mom. You each had blue vault suits on and wore huge smiles.
It was the last picture you had of your mom. Your dad walked over and held the locket closer to his face. He chuckled, and tears formed in his eyes. He cleared his throat and looked away. You could tell he was trying not to cry. Seeing this made tears well up in your eyes too. He sniffed, and looked back to you.
"I wear it around my neck...so she's closer to my heart." You croaked. Your voice wavered and that's when he broke down. He pulled your close and the tears ran down your face. You both held each other close until you stopped crying. He pulled back and wiped off your tears with his thumbs.
"I love you baby girl." He smiled. You smiled back, then kissed his cheek.
"Love you too dad...love you too..."
