Everything seemed dark. Well, that's because everything was dark. You couldn't distinguish much, but your ears picked up some beeping machinery nearby. You wanted to open your eyes but they just felt so heavy.

Approaching voices caught your attention and you decided to listen in.

"Her condition is stable. Still unconscious though. You are lucky to have pulled her out when you did, that irradiated water isn't good for anyone." A female said.

Their footsteps came closer until they stopped by your bed.

"Thank god." Your father's voice was heard. A hand slipped into your own.

"I love you baby girl." He whispered.

As he stood a little longer, you tried to squeeze his hand, or wiggle your toes. Something to show them you were ok.

Thankfully you managed to get your hand muscles to move. You closed your hand around his, and heard a gasp.

"She's squeezing my hand. She moved." Your dad chided. He ran his thumb over your knuckles. "You can do it sweetie. Can you wake up?" He urged.

You squeezed your eyes shut, and as you opened them, you became aware of the pain in your chest. Each breath stung your throat and lungs.

Your father brought your hand to kis mouth and kissed it lovingly. You coughed a few times, but rested your head back on the pillow.

"Go tell Max she's awake." Your dad told the doctor who stood by, watching you intently.

With a quick, "of course." He left the room.

"Dad...what happ-ened?" You asked.

"You fell into the water. Max dove in after you. He pulled you out and performed mouth to mouth. He saved your life. Then we brought you here. You've been asleep for 4 days.." He explained.

You sighed and brought a hand up to pinch the bridge of your nose. You rubbed your eyes, and slowly sat upright. Before you responded, Max stormed in. His face looked way more worried than mad though. He came over and kissed your forehead.

"Babe, I was so worried. How are you feeling?" He grabbed a hold of your hand.

"I'm ok, my chest and throat hurt though." You replied. He pushed some hair out of your eyes.

"Thank god, I love you so much.." He muttered. You smiled at him, then started to lean in. He began leaning in too until...a knock on the door sounded. In walked Red. Max pulled away and watched Red saunter into the room.

"Hey guys. I heard what happened, I came from the tower. Everyone's worried." He said.

"How long do I need to stay here?" You asked, looking to the doctor who you only recently realized was standing in the corner.

"Just another day, we should make sure you are ready to walk again." He nodded.

And so, Red took the message back to the tower, and you found walking to be a small challenge. Considering you were asleep for 4 days, it was hard to move most of your body. After you managed to get your legs moving correctly once again, you noticed just how starving you actually felt.

Once you had devoured some food, your dad wanted you to meet some important people. He took you and Max around the small city and introduced you to almost everyone. Finally, he took you both to a large house planted on top of a hill. A sign in front of the house read 'PRESIDENT'. Your dad knocked on the door and a few minutes later a girl with black hair, a purple sweater, black glasses and fake cat ears opened the door. She looked to be about your age.

"Hi guys! Come on in!" She smiled.

"President Aphmau, this is my daughter (Y/n). This is her boyfriend, Max." Your father introduced. She shook your hands and smiled.

"Nice to meet you both! You can call me Jess. I hope you enjoy your stay here!"
