You were somewhat nervous when you saw Red at the front door. You let him inside. Sometimes he would come over to stay the night, or to just relax. This time he had a letter.

There was a group of people hiding out in a library in the city. They needed help because a bunch of rogue scavengers weren't letting them out. They estimated 5 scavengers were there and apparently they knew that the trapped citizens had sent a help letter.

This made you wonder if maybe it was a trap. Maybe the scavengers wanted more victims. More supplies. You all discussed it, and came to a decision. It didn't sound like a huge battle would ensue, so you decided to take only a few people.

Max of course would come with you, then you decided to let Adam stay at the tower and take Ross. For the rest of the day, you packed up and got everything ready to head out the next morning.

You fell asleep and had a nightmare about a mission gone wrong. You woke up in a cold sweat. Panting hard, some of your hair stuck to your forehead. Since it was still dark out, you tried to get back to sleep.

When you woke up the second time, you showered and got ready. Meeting Ross and Max by the door, you felt so ready. Hyped for the bad guys you got to squash. Your adrenaline pumped through your veins, and you bid goodbye to the rest of the group.

The three of you started walking. It only took an hour roughly to find the library. You guys stuck close to buildings and kept low. Trying to sneak up as best as possible. You looked down for a moment to see a frag mine and Ross almost stepped on it.

You grabbed his arm and pulled him back. He shot you a confused look and you pointed to the mine. He crouched down and carefully disarmed the weapon. Throwing it into his bag, you continued on. Being careful to not trip any mines laid out.

The three of you got out your guns of choice, and rounded the corner to head for the entrance of the library. A foot away from the stairs to the library, 3 men burst out the doors and started shooting.

Quickly reacting, you all shot back. Soon the three men were dead. You picked up what you could from them and went inside. Inside, there were many men hiding behind bookcases and shooting at you.

Each of you hid behind a large bookcase and took down the men. Things seemed to be going smoothly, and you even found the three that wrote the message to you. Ross led them to the entrance of the library and came back to you. Together you all cleared out the rest of the building.

You grabbed some hidden supplies, and left the building. After wandering about a foot away from the building, shots rained down from the roof. In a panic, you looked up and found 6 guys on the room. You didn't notice them before.

You three hid behind a dumpster and the shots halted. You each reloaded your guns and Max managed to shoot one. Soon they left the roof and came out the doors. That's when they hid behind the pillars and started throwing grenades and Molotov cocktails at you guys. Getting hit a few times, all of you were bleeding from some place. You took a grenade and tossed it over, successfully killing one. That means 4 left.

"I'm gonna get closer to them, cover me." Max said. You nodded. You peeked out and Max took off running to take cover behind a closer dumpster. You and Ross fired at the men who fired at Max, then switched their focus to you.

You looked over at Max who was leaning against the dumpster, an arm wrapped around his stomach.

"Max!" You shouted to him. He looked over and held his thumb up to show he was alright. You guys ducked down to reload and you grabbed a grenade.

"You're going down!!!" One of the men shouted. You threw the grenade with incredible accuracy, and in a few seconds the man was eating dirt. Who went down now, b*tch??

You peeked out again and shot at one of the men. However, before you could react he shot a bullet through your arm. You cursed, and sat back against the dumpster. Ross leaned closer to check your arm. The pain spread through most of your arm. From the shoulder to your fingers, everything hurt.

Ross pulled out some gauze and you looked over to see Max running toward you. He fell to your side (seemingly he tripped) and grabbed your hand. But you couldn't feel his grip. It hurt way too much. Ross wrapped up your arm from your wrist to your elbow and tucked it in place.

"You should have...stayed behind cover, Max." You snapped, angry at him. He grunted and picked up the pistol you dropped.

"I'm fine." He said through clenched teeth. He moved his head out and shot a few times.

"Give me a grenade!" Ross shouted over the loud gunfire. You pulled one out of your bag and handed it to him, only using your good hand. He quickly pulled the pin and threw it. He breathed a sigh of relief after it blew up, successfully killing the last man. You all sat for a moment, just breathing and leaning up against the smelly dumpster. The sun was gleaming high in the sky, and you knew you all would fry if you didn't start moving. ((Like sunburn/heat stroke))

"We should head back." You said, breaking the silence that fell after you three caught your breaths.

"Yeah, come on guys. Let's take the shortcut home." Ross suggested. You nodded. He came over and helped you stand. Your ankle protested, but you limped forward a bit to stay upright. Ross had a gash in his forehead from some debris that shot out at one point and you didn't notice but Max was very injured and needed medical attention fast.

You and Ross grabbed your bags and failed to see Max use his last stimpack. He hoped it would help him make it to the Tower. Every step was excruciating for him, but he was hanging on. You three walked in a line, Ross in the middle in order to support you and Max on each side. You all made it back to the Tower by nightfall.

Once there, your whole body felt heavy from exhaustion. You wanted nothing more than to just fall into bed and sleep for a year. Ross knocked on the door loudly in the rhythm you guys used. Soon Adam opened it and welcomed you in with a piece of bread hanging from his mouth.

Once he saw the condition you guys were in, he quickly swallowed the bread he was chewing and grabbed some bags to take inside.

"What happened to you guys??" Adam asked, gazing at your condition.

"We were outnumbered. They had lots of grenades." You mumbled. Ross let go of you both and walked into the kitchen to find some cold waters for everyone.

"Dang. You guys are pretty beat up." Adam stated as he watched you limp over toward Max. You looked up at his face and noticed he looked really pale.

"Max, you feeling okay?" You asked. He was staring off into space. When his name was called, he shuffled toward the medical office.

"Yeah I'm alright...I'll be..." He mumbled, still not looking at you or Adam. Adam and you shared a glance before rushing (I guess you quickly limped toward him) to his side to catch Max, just as he fell. Adam picked him up and brought him into the medical office.

"Max, hey. Max stay with me, okay? You're going to be fine." You coaxed. Soon, Ross walked in with the waters and stopped abruptly in the doorway.

You motioned for Ross to bring over the water, and he complied. He lifted Max's head and made him drink half the bottle. You lifted his shirt and found three bloody holes in his stomach. Bullet holes...
