Riley's POV:
After telling everyone what happened, I was not left alone for what felt like weeks. No one wanted John to touch me better yet see me. The most protective was Tyler, any time he was free he was with me. Soon though the boys had to head back to Dallas and it was an emotional goodbye. It was now the end of our senior year and today we were graduating. We had not seen the boys now for a few months as they had to focus on hockey. Jamie and I have become the bestest of friends and Tyler has't spoken to me much at all. In fact he has only been talking to Anna and I knew that it would be a matter of time before they started to date. Although I was hurt by this, I kept telling myself that Anna deserved happiness and I was stupid to ever assume he would like someone like me. I wasn't the skinniest girl and no matter how I tried I couldn't lose any weight so I've decided to accept me for myself. Anna and I both had great news for the boys and we couldn't wait to tell them after graduation. Unfortunately, they can't come to graduation so we would just have to call them afterwards. "Riley are you ready to go yet the ceremony starts in 30 minutes?" Anna yelled talking me out of my thoughts. "Yeah I'll be right down." I yell as I grab my cap and gown. The ceremony took forever and finally it was our turn to get our diplomas. When I grabbed it I looked up to my family and had a wide smile on my face. After everyone got their diplomas Anna and I went over to find our families mingling with each other and two people who had hats on their heads and were turned away from us so we couldn't see their faces. "Riley! Anna! Over here!" My mother yelled at me. "I guess we better go then" Anna tells me and we laugh. When we get over there the two strange men turn around and we are surprised to see that it was Jamie and Tyler."Guys, I thought you said you couldn't make it." "It doesn't matter we wanted it to be a surprise. Now come over here and give me a hug." Jamie and I say to each other. After giving Jamie a hug, I turn to go give a hug to Tyler and notice that him and Anna are whispering to each other next to a tree. Before they notice I'm staring I turn to Jamie with a hurt smile on my face. "Hey what's wrong are you not excited to see us?" Jamie asks me. "No. I'm so happy to see you guys it's just- Never mind it doesn't matter they are together and I'm happy for them." I tell him and walk away before he can ask anymore questions. After hugging all of my family and Anna's family I tell them I forgot something at home and have to go get it before the party. I leave and walk right to my car. As I'm driving I see Tyler's name pop up on my phone telling me he is calling me. I quickly decline and begin to drive faster. As soon as I get home I run up to my bed and start to cry. I take all of my Tyler Seguin stuff and throw them into Anna's room, knowing she will now use them because they are dating.I then pack my overnight bag filled with a a change of clothes and other necessities. Leaving a note on the counter telling Anna that I am going for a drive and I'll be back by morning and to enjoy the party, I start the drive to my mom's friend Shelly's house. Knowing she won't tell anyone I know she will help me through this.
Anna's POV:
As soon as we recognize the boys, I see Jamie pull Riley into a hug and I know that now's the time to talk to Tyler about him asking out Riley. While the boys have been playing hockey in Dallas, Tyler has become one of my closest friends and I finally got him to tell me that he actually does like Riley. "When are you gonna ask her out? She has loved you since you started to play for the Stars, I know she won't turn you down. Trust me she is my best friend I know her the best." I whisper yell to Tyler. "Don't worry I'm gonna ask her on a date tonight during the party while the sun sets. I'm just nervous." "Don't worry about-" I start to stay before Jamie comes over and interrupts our conversation. "Tyler, why didn't you tell me you and Anna are dating I told Riley you liked her that day we went mini golfing. She told me that she wasn't good enough for you and that you wouldn't like her and now she left because the two of you are dating." Jamie practically yells at him. "We aren't dating." "She left?!" Tyler and I said at the same time. "Jamie we aren't dating. I was trying to help Tyler ask her out I promise." I tell him "Well she doesn't think that. She saw the two of you over here and then she gave me a small smile before leaving. She looked like she was gonna cry." Jamie tells us. I walk/run over to her parents and they tell me that she went home to grab something, the 3 of us run to Tyler's Range Rover and he drives to our house. As soon as we pull into the driveway I notice Riley's car gone and I run upstairs to her room and notice all of her Tyler Seguin stuff was out of her room. I go into my room and notice that all of the stuff that was once in her room is now in my room. I then notice a piece of paper on my bed:
Anna, I get it now why you and Tyler were texting so much. Why didn't you tell me you liked him or that you were dating? I'm not mad at you, but I figured since the two of you are dating now that you might have better use of his stuff. I decided to go on a short road trip. I'll be back by tomorrow night and please don't try to find me. I promise I will be safe and that you will see me soon. I just need some time to get over Tyler. Please tell the boys thank you for coming. Enjoy the party and just tell my parents the truth. I would have come but I don't know if I am ready to face reality yet. Just let Tyler know I will always like him but I get it I'm not good enough for him. My cell phone will be off and I know you think I'm crazy but please trust me this time. I love you all very much! Love, Riley.
