Chapter 22

Riley's Pov:

When I Finally got back home, my favorite two dogs in the entire world came up to me and I have to say I definitely missed their adorable faces. I was on the ground for 30 minutes before Anna told me it was time to get read for our surprise. I have to say I was worried and started to freak out a little bit. It wasn't that I was worried about seeing the boys,that was the most exciting thing for me and for the past 2 weeks that's all I have been looking forward too. I was more nervous about what the boys were going to say and do, I just hoped the would forgive me and understand why I did what I did. As we pulled up to the arena where the boys were playing the Blackhawks tonight trying to clinch their playoff spot. I knew that tonight would be Tyler's first game back and being as he has been playing like shit I hoped I could help them in anyway possible. As we got to our seats, I put my stuff down before going to see Coach Ruff. He was kind enough to help me out and when I called him he was more than excited to help me out a little bit.

2 weeks earlier:

I was going home in 2 weeks and instead of doing a corny meet up at the airport I decided that I would surprise them at their home game against the Blackhawks knowing that they were the team we needed and wanted to beat. I decided to call up Lindy Ruff since he was my Uncle after all. I still remember that awkward conversation that we had, but I soon forgot about it and got over it so now me and Lindy are very close. "Hello" I heard Linda say into the phone after a few rings."Hey Uncle Lindy it's Riley." "Oh sweetheart you don't know how wonderful it is to hear from you. We miss you dearly and Anna told me all about what happened. How are you feeling?" "I'm doing really well thank you, I'm actually coming home in 2 weeks." "Riley that's great your Aunt will be so happy to see you she had missed you very much. Have you told the boy yet? Tyler's been absolutely miserable without you." "That's actually what I called you for. I was wondering if you could help me out with something.."

Anyway, I was excited to see Lindy for the first time in months and when I got to his office I Could tell he really did miss me. When I walked in I saw his office was filled with all my favorite foods and a banner that said welcome home and a Lindy whose arms were open waiting for me to walk into them. After laughing for a second I ran into them and almost started to cry but luckily I stopped myself reminding me that this no time for tears. After a small reunion, one of the trainers waked in and said that the boys were ready for us. After taking a deep breath I walked down the hall with Lindy and he gave me a squeeze before he walked in leaving the door slightly open so I could hear when my que.

"Okay boys," I heard Lindy tell the boys" I have a surprise for all of you, but we need to talk first s I need your undivided attention. This game is very important for us, and we need all of you to be on you top game and we are very happy to have Tyler here to help us while he is healthy." I then heard a few chairs and heard Jamie scream "Yeah Segy!" Causing the team to laugh again. "Anyway as I was saying this is a very important game and I want all of you to know that your fans are counting on us to play well. I want all of you to take all of those negative feelings, those angry feelings, and heartbreaks, and anything else going on in your heads and hearts, and use it to power you tonight. I promise you all that wherever Riley is right now, she wants you all to play the best you can. Especially Jamie and Tyler and I know she will be back soon. So if you don't play tonight for anyone else, you can dedicate this to her." Jamie as captain then got up to encourage the team and said" Guys let's do this for Riley, she would want us to go out there and win tonight. Have faith that she is going to come back because I sure do. Let's do this for her and for her health and well being." The boys all yelled in agreement and Lindy went up to go introduce his surprise, me. " As I said before we have a special guest here with us tonight so Riley you can come in now." With that I waked into the locker and the expressions on the boys faces went from surprise to joy and in Tyler's face I saw not only thankfulness, but there were tears coming from his eyes.
