I'm going to shoot for fifty chapters. Let's see if that turns out c:
I think that I'm happy again. The only thing that I wanted most in my life is back. My family. It makes me feel so much better than I did when I was alone in England. I never felt right there. Although, I always did try to tell myself I did.
I flinch whenever a loud laugh comes from North. I crack a smile, and look at what she's laughing at. Ryan is simply sitting next to her, poking his tongue out. After awhile, she tries to mimicking his actions.
"Can you say...." Ryan pauses to think of something. "Dada?" He wonders. North looks up at him as if he has three heads. Her two bottom teeth poke out as she smiles up at him.
"mma-ma" North says. I furrow my eyebrows. Did she just say momma? The fact that it was a nickname of mine for Alex didn't matter. She said my name. She called me her mom. I smile and shake my head.
"That's right, I'm her favorite." I smirk. I've been here for three days. Throughout that time, North has welcomed me. I think I stole daddy's little girl, and turned her into Mommy's little girl.
"I will always be her favorite. M's are always easier to pronounce." Ryan says smiling back at me. I roll my eyes.
"If that's what helps you sleep at night." I reply. Ryan has this sort of charm when it comes to babies. It's like they fall in love with him instantly. Every baby I've ever saw around him seems to love him. He's such a great dad. I smile.
"It does, actually." He pokes his tongue out. He instantly flinches when North let's out her shriek of laughter. I laugh. I guess Ryan had forgotten how funny it was to North about sticking his tongue out.
Her laugh has a way of making me laugh. Eventually, her laugh turns into a yawn. Ryan picks up on it and checks the time on his watch. "Time for bed, Sweetheart." Ryan cooes, picking her up off the ground and holding her against him.
"And you," Ryan says, looking towards me as I sit on the couch underneath a blanket. I furrow my eyebrows. "You stay right there, I'll be right back." His words are gentle. I let out a tired breath and nod my head. I don't know why, but I'm completely drained of all my energy. I think it might just be the calm after the storm. The storm that's destroyed so much.
Ryan hardly let's me out of his sight. I don't mind. I know that he's just worried something might happen again. I learned my lesson. Don't trust a stranger. I close my ears and rest my head against the side of the couch.
I want my mate. My wolf utters. I let out a soft breath and look at my hand. She is always so demanding, but I do not blame her. She's been away from him for almost two years, but then again technically she still is away from him.
He hasn't touched me. Other than forehead kisses, he hasn't made any kind of gesture that my wolf wants. I keep reminding her that he is taking things slow. I just had a baby two weeks ago. As much as I want Ryan, I don't think either one of us are ready.
Will he ever be ready? Could he even get past the fact that I've slept with someone other than him? I clench my jaw.
"Hey, pretty lady." Ryan grins, climbing underneath the covers beside me. I let out a tired breath and smile back at him.
"Is North already asleep?" I wonder, running my fingers through his hair. Ryan shifts and has his head against my chest. He shakes his head against the idea.
"No, she's watching Finding Nemo." Figures. That's the only movie she seems to fall asleep to. It's my favorite.
"Of course she is." I smile. "She'll throw a fit if she doesn't." I poke Ryan's nose. "You've already gotten our daughter spoiled." I roll my eyes.
Ryan grins and shakes his head. "I had to spoil my little girl." He says, "she isn't rotten like her mom yet though." He pokes out his tongue and I tap his shoulder.
"I'm not rotten." I argue in a joking manner. Ryan let's out a breathy laugh and looks up at me.
"You're right. You're going to be spoiled rotten." He grins. "How about starting it off with a date tomorrow after I get off work?" He offers. I smile.
"A date?" I wonder. My heart swells. It's the littlest gestures like this that make me fall more in love with Ryan.
"Yes, a date. Dinner and maybe a walk? Does that sound alright?" He offers. I nod my head.
"Any kind of time spent with you is beyond alright. Perfect even." I say softly. He smiles back at me.
"Your heart beats really fast." Ryan comments against my chest. I run my fingers through my hair and let out a easy breath.
"You're the reason it beats this fast." I say, my eyes growing heavy. Ryan lets out a breath.
"God, I love you."
