I wake up, alone. My body aches as I roll over onto my side. I take in a deep breath and concentrate on what happened within the last few hours. His side of the bed is still warm. I roll again in the bed, I still want to sleep. I'm exhausted. Eventually without any luck, I sit up because I cannot sleep.
I push my fingers through my hair and let out a breath. Ryan has never been that rough with my body. I don't know what got into him. I have a feeling that it was his wolf, claiming me again.
I pull a shirt over my body, and tug on a pair of sweatpants. I furrow my eyebrows when I step into the bathroom and see a note taped to the mirror.
I rip it off and hold it between my fingers, reading the neat writing. I pull my lip between my teeth.
I guess that you woke up to me not here. I'm sorry, I had to go and settle the situation, baby. I promise that I really wanted to stay there with you. I left Lucas there with you. Stay in the house. Love you.
I let out a breath and sigh. I frown when I look at my reflection. I tried so hard to get him to mark me last night. He wouldn't. I don't think he could bring himself to do that.
In the place where my mark once was, there are several bruises from his open mouthed kisses. My wolf doesn't seem satisfied with it. I am. At least he wants me.
At least he's trying. I walk out of the bathroom and into the kitchen.
"I'm glad you finally woke up today, sleeping beauty." Lucas says with a smile on his face as I walk into the room. I roll my eyes and smile back. "Your daughter has been saying momma for the past hour and a half. It was cute at first but now It's getting pretty annoying." He says with a little laugh.
"Why didn't you just wake me up?" I furrow my eyebrows. I pick North up as she walks to me and push a curl out of her face.
"Ryan made it perfectly clear for me to not go in that room unless it's an emergency. By his attitude, I was pretty sure you were naked. We're you?" He asks. I feel my cheeks start to burn. I simply roll my eyes.
"You were." He chuckles. "Glad I didn't have an emergency." He continues. I push my hair out of my eyes and simply huff at him.
"You two are terrible to her." Lucas says with a laugh. I shoot my head towards him and furrow my eyebrows. What the hell is he talking about? North scratches my cheek and I flinch. I really need to trim her nails. She also needs a bath.
"what?" I ask. I'm completely confused by what he means. I know that he's joking, but I'm still not following.
"You could have just called me and told me to come and get her last night. The poor girl had to listen to what you two were doing." He chuckles and shakes his head. My cheeks go hot. Suddenly I don't know what to say.
"Hush. Besides, we're not the only ones who have done that." I roll my eyes. I'm sure there are people out there that have let that happen. Lucas chuckles but nods his head.
"How have you been?" I ask, setting North down and taking a seat at the kitchen table. Lucas simply shrugs his shoulders. Good answer...
"I don't know. Sometimes I get overwhelmed with all the work and having Coen running around." He let's out a breath. I furrow my eyebrows.
"Speaking of Coen, where is he?" I ask, looking around. Lucas smiles a little.
"He started preschool. It's actually really sad." He sighs. I frown. I think about how sad I'll be leaving North with a teacher. If she's anything like me, she'll hate school.
"It'll be okay." I say giving him a soft smile. He smiles back.
"I know. I'm just worried about the teacher. He's so difficult." He chuckles. I laugh back. In the little time that I've known Coen, he's been nothing but trouble to everyone but North and Lucas. He's a good kid, he just gets loud and doesn't know when to stop.
"You've got a point. Hey, but look on the bright side." I say wiggling my eyebrows, "you've got more time to yourself" I say. He cracks a smile at my comment.
"Hey, hush. I'm great on my own." He grins. I roll my eyes and poke his shoulder.
"If you don't get a boyfriend soon, I'm going to find you one. Tell me what ya like in your men?" I ask, wiggling my eyebrows. Lucas opens his mouth to speak but I quickly shut him up. "Don't you dare say Ryan." I warn. He rolls his eyes and shuts up.
"Speaking of Ryan," he pauses, "he should be back soon. I hope so because I'm running out of things to say." He chuckles. I roll my eyes back at him. Lucas always has something to say. I think that I embarrassed him about me getting him a boyfriend.
"You're no fun." I say with a frown. "Me and you should go watch a movie or something sometime soon." I offer. Lucas shakes his head and smiles.
"Will see." He mumbles, ruffling up my hair. He reaches into a bag on the table and hands a Cheeto to North who is silently holding her hand out for one. I grin. Her face is covered in Cheeto dust.
"Will see? That's no an answer! I need a yes or a no, please tell me some-" I stop talking when I hear the front door click. Suddenly my stomach does a flip.
"How were my girls?" Ryan asks, stepping into the kitchen with a bag of groceries. I momentarily peek inside the bags in curiosity. I purse my lips.
"North was great, the Bigfoot over there, she was okay I guess." Lucas jokes. I shoot him a playful glare.
"I wear a size four. Which, may I remind you is below the average size of a woman's foot in America." I say, placing a hand on my hip.
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever you say, chewbacca. I've got an appointment with my pillow. I have to go give it some major head." He says, dismissing himself. I roll my eyes at him. God he really ticks me off.
The front door closes, and Ryan grins. I furrow my eyebrows completely confused as to why he's smiling. North squeals and he instantly picks her up holding her with one arm. I flinch. It's so dangerous.
"Hey, sweetheart. How are you?" He asks her, pushing his fingers through her thin hair. She smiles showing off her few teeth. I roll my eyes because she never smiles at me like that.
"How did you sleep?" Ryan asks, setting North down and focusing his attention on me.
"Like a baby." I say. He gently cups my cheeks and presses a kiss to my lips. "I'm absolutely glad to hear that. I apologize for last night; I didn't mean to be so rough with you." He says softly, kissing me again.
I furrow my eyebrows and put a finger between our lips as he goes to kiss me again. "Why are you so happy?" I ask.
Ryan grins and kisses me again. "She is pregnant." He says with a smile. I frown. He's happy about it? Of course he is. His wolf is excited for another heir. My heart sinks. Maybe he decided to be with her.
"She's two months along." He explains. I look down at the ground. Why is he talking to me so excitedly about it?
"Baby?" He asks, rubbing under my eyes. "Why are you crying?" He asks. I blink. I'm crying?
"She's pregnant, but it isn't my baby."
