"What's the matter?" Ryan wonders, I'm swiveling in his office chair. He seemed to have forgotten all about our date plans since Peyton showed up.I simply glance up at him from looking down at my nails. "I don't know, you tell me." I say. Ryan let's out a groan.
"I cannot read your mind, Taylor. What's wrong?" I huff lowly. Don't act like you don't know, Mendez. Even my wolf is upset.
"Who's Peyton?" I ask. I finally remembered where I had heard that name before. I read it on Alex's desk. I wonder if the two connect. There's only one way to find out.
Suddenly, there's a thickness in the air that wasn't there before. Ryan tenses, and glances up at me before tearing his eyes away. "No one, why?" He wonders.
"So I must have been dreaming when she came in here and told you she was pregnant with your child?" I huff, "it must have been some wild dream. I deserve it though." I huff. I already know it's a real life situation. One that I do in fact deserve. Maybe he thought if he forgives me for what I've done, then he'll be in the clear for sleeping with this woman.
I don't know why my heart aches so much. I think it was better me not knowing than to hear the cold hard truth. He tried to replace me, didn't he?
Ryan doesn't say anything. He clenches his jaw and look up towards me. He doesn't have to have words. The silence says everything. He doesn't deny it.
"Do you love her?" I ask. Ryan looks up at me and furrows his eyebrows.
"Do I love her?" He repeated the question. "No, I don't love her. It was one night, Taylor. There wasn't anything involved. I made a stupid decision, but sort of smart at the same time. If it wasn't for me sleeping with her, I would have never found out where you were." He says softly. I can see the guilt in his eyes. I'm not worried about the fact that he might possibly have another child. I did. I wanted to know how he figured out. How she knew.
"How did she know?" I wonder. Ryan let's out a gulp and looks towards the door. He doesn't make eye contact with me.
"Everything reminded me of you. When I slept with her I was beyond disgusted. She wasn't good enough. Nothing compared to you. It wasn't your hips, your burning touch, or your heartbeat. All I wanted was to feel something again. Anything." He tries to explain himself as to why he had slept with her. Although my wolf is angry about him talking about it, that's the least of my worries.
"How did she know?" I ask again, standing from my chair and furrowing my eyebrows. Ryan looks down at his hands in his lap and says nothing.
He knows something. I can tell by the way that he's breathing he is. Why can't he just tell me?
"Taylor..I can't. It'll break your heart hearing it." He whispers. Nothing can break something so damaged. I grip the edge of the desk and lean down towards his face.
"How. Did. she. Know?" I drag out each word. If he keeps this up, I will drive him insane by repeating the same phrase over and over again until I get the answer I'm looking for.
Ryan looks down at his hands and let's out a sigh. "She knew, because she was one of your captors." He says. My heart shatters. Not only had he cheated on me, but with the girl that had taken me away from him in the first place.
"She's the one that tricked me into helping her?" I snap. My grip on the table becomes deadly. I hear the splintering of wood in my grasp. I didn't need an answer. Ryan was too ashamed of himself to even bring himself to give me one.
I toss the chunks of the wood against the floor and jerk the door open. It's time to pay back the damage to the bitch that caused all of mine.
"Taylor!" The sounds of Ryan's voice fill my ears. I don't turn around. My wolf is ready to pounce on someone, anyone, and rip their heart from their chest.
I doubt I've ever been this angry in my life. It feels as though I'm a warrior, going into my final battle. This time I'll be going home though. My breathing is heavy.
I remember her face. Never will I forget such a face as deceiving as her's. Peyton. The name completely sickened me. Who the hell does she think she is?
I take in a deep breath, my heart is beating too rapidly. It usually only happens when I'm stressed. I'm beyond pissed. She already ruined my family once. She tried to replace me. What the hell have I done to her? Nothing. I've never even seen her in my entire life, nor had anything to do with pissing her off.
I find her, sitting on the couch picking at her nails. My wolf is furious. I grab and handful of her hair and sling her onto the floor.
"It's nice to finally see you again...Peyton." I say her name with so much fury. Her eyes are wide as she looks at me with worry across her face.
I ball my fist, and swing. I keep swinging, and she even tries to fight back. She isn't very good at fighting. Maybe she understands that she deserves it. I want her to fight back. I want to end her like she ended me.
I scream in protest when there are arms around my waist pulling me back. I'm furious and can only see red. When my vision was cleared, Peyton has blood running from her nose and her face is swelling.
"Let me go!" I scream, thrashing around. I want to kill her. So does my wolf. I'm growing and throwing a fit like I'm four years old.
"No!" Ryan growls loudly in my ear. I clench my jaw and try to get out of his grip. Why is he just letting her live? He should have killed her for what she has done!
"Let me kill her!" I scream. Ryan only growls lower. My anger turns into sadness as I realize that he won't stick up for me.
"Let me go." I snap, staring down at Peyton who looks like she's trying to make me feel sorry for her. I clench my jaw.
"You're not going to hit her again, Taylor. she's pregnant, I refuse to let you lay a hand on her." He says lowly. I swallow hard. I look down at my hands and shake.
"Her face isn't pregnant." I snap. Ryan growls into my ear, and a lone tear makes it's way down my cheek. He's standing up for her.
"Taylor. She's carrying my child." He growls. Clearly, it's his wolf trying to protect his young. My jaw clenches.
"Get your hands off of me, Mendez." I scowl. When his grip loosened, I rip myself from him and storm off without another word.
I keep telling myself that he stuck up for her. My kidnapper.
Sorry for the long wait :(
