• Max's POV •
She has changed, undoubtedly. She isn't my chubby, adorable redheaded best friend anymore. She was more reserved, more refined and more je ne sais quoi? I guess she was just plain different. I watched from my window as she drove off with her best friend. The girl that replaced me.
Ouch, that hurt.
But, it's for the best. I can't be anywhere near her right now. My recent past in England was not a good experience. I was scared. Until I found Isabelle that is.
She was my light in the darkness, the flower in my field of thorns, the one who pulled me out when I was drowning in my fears and my depression.
As I trudged down the stairs I felt a foreign feeling. The feeling of yearning to be a part of her new life, but knowing I couldn't. Because the seven years that hung like shadows between us has not only changed her.
It has changed me too. Not for better, but for worse.
