DOUBLE UPDATE

Max's POV

Great. We were very late. When we got to the party, everyone was already there. My mom made a big fuss about me leaving. Then she called Mrs Thompson to ask about bringing anything and suddenly she changed her mind. She told me I could go, without a fuss.

Tomorrow Isabelle would be here. I was pretty excited. She had booked her flight so that it would be here during the weekend, so that we could explore a little.

She was always well planned.

When Simon and I reached Jennifer's place the party was in full swing.

Simon stomped his way towards a random girl and asked her to dance. He was fine earlier, why was he so pissed now?

I walked over to one of the tables and took a drink and sipped it, nodding my head to the music. Finishing it I walked over to the dance floor and started dancing.

Suddenly a green shirt caught my eye. I stopped suddenly, bumping into a few people in the process.

Hailey?

No, it couldn't be. She absolutely loathes parties. After the day she'd had to shave her head, she was really against any party. Even school parties. She just would not come to school on that day.

I headed towards her. She grabbed a soda and went outside. Curiously I followed.

Suddenly a blond head stopped me.

"Heyy! What a coincidence!" I heard a girl say. What was her name? Betsy? Bethany?

"Oh hey!" I said drily, watching Hailey, or what looked like Hailey go out the front door. Where was she going?

"Wanna dance?" she asked.

"No, Bethany.." I started.

"Brittany" she corrected.

"Yea, whatever. I need to go somewhere." I said, pushing past her. I heard her huff in anger but I didn't care. She needed to take the hint and go bug someone else.

I walked outside. The sight that met me shocked me. A drunk guy was bending over Hailey. My face was red in anger. I was so furious. An overwhelming sense of protectiveness flowed into my bloodstream.

"Didn't she just tell you to get the hell away from her?" I shouted. I ripped the man off her and threw him the other side. He fell. I took a quick glimpse at her. She was leaning on the railing, her hands over her face trying to collect herself.

I turned to the man and punched him on the jaw as he lunged towards me. He was drunk.

He dropped to the ground. And I sighed in relief. No big blow out. I was afraid of that. Not that I wasn't prepared. London had prepared me more than I had needed for situations worse than this.

I turned to Hailey and saw the smile on her face drop and shock replace it. Her eyes were raging with emotion. So I did the only thing I knew.

"Hey, Bee." I said, smiling.
