It should be a truth universally acknowledged that parties suck.

I mean, trust me. It didn't start out boring. Everything was fun. Until he showed up.

After leaving Richard and Sharon to deal with their mess and dragging Simon and Tasha—who were glaring at each other when they caught the others gaze and sent looks that should not be allowed in public when the other wasn't—inside the house.

Goddammit, all of my friends needed therapy.

I was the only sane person in the group. "Simon, go find Alex and tell him we showed up. Knowing him, he's probably already flirting some poor girl's pants off and I'm not in the mood to throw up, so I'mma need you to do it."

Simon got what I was trying to say. Smart boy.

Now if only he could be that smart with his love life.

I would never have guessed that I would ever be able to talk to a boy—command him to do something. I sort of electric current jolted through my stomach and traveled all the way up to my throat and I smiled as Simon went to do my bidding. Would this new found power work on all boys?

Probably not. I fought the churning in my stomach at the thought.

I rolled my eyes and caught Tasha sneaking away. I gripped her hand. "Tasha Patel. You're coming with me."

She grumbled, but stayed with me. "I don't want to talk about it."

I shrugged. "Fine, then let's dance."

We walk to the dance floor, where Lady Gaga's 'Poker Face' was slowly transitioning into dance monkey's 'Dance with me'.

At first we only swayed, but soon enough we caught the rhythm. I felt very self-conscious at first, dress, makeup and the possibility of making a fool of myself at the forefront of my mind. But then, I realized everyone was so absorbed with themselves they wouldn't have time for me. My steps became bolder, my heart became lighter. "Come on Tash, shake that groove thing!"

Tasha laughed. "You're so lame."

I flirtatiously flutter my lashes at her. "And you love it."

"I didn't realize your dress had no back. God, you're scandalous today."

"More importantly though, cold as hell!"

"It's totally worth it." She crooned.

"I sincerely hope you're kidding. I would rather be in my pyjamas than in this wardrobe of death."

"I'm not kidding." Tasha said, pointing to her left. "Also, five O'clock, dark hair, gorgeous smile."

"You have a boyfriend." But I turned to look.

The first thing I noticed about him was that he was tall. And then, that he was beautiful. Dark brown hair, mussed. Sleepy shaped eyes hid dark eyes; I wanted to see how dark. Pale, glistening features traveled down to a chiseled jawline.

Oh, wow. What a jawline.

The guy looked like he'd walked right out of a Kdrama. I'd started watching them the past month; and oh my God I'd been caught. Hook. Line. Sinker.

"Damn, I wish I could tap that." Tasha said.

Okay?

My brows drew slightly together. Then I saw her give a pointed look to someone a few feet away from us.

I turn my gaze to the place she was looking. Simon stood, glaring so hard his eyeballs almost popped out.

"I dare you to say that again." He said, voice low.
