We'd made it back in just in time for curfew but mother was still not pleased at the state I was in. I didn't have time to slip on my tent dress before we got home and when my mother caught sight of Cassy and I in our tight black cocktail dresses, she nearly had a heart attack. She practically ripped me out of the dress and called Cassy's mother to come fetch her. Dealing with one disappointment of a child was enough for my mother apparently.
Liam and Cody slipped into Cody's room just before mum went off at me. Cody had tried to come to my defense, telling mum that he was the one who forced me to wear it but it didn't help much. In the end, I still ended up getting all the punishment.
"No dinner for the rest of the week." My mother said firmly as she threw my new dress into the fire disposal can. "If you want to dress like a harlot, you can eat like one."
In her mind, harlots went to bed without supper. And that was my punishment, because I was a filthy little slut. It didn't pan out the way she had planned though seeing as if I wasn't at the dinner table, Cody refused to be there as well. And nobody forced Cody into doing anything, besides dad of course. But it seemed as though mum was the only one who didn't approve of my attire. The boys in the house couldn't care less.
"She's young. Let her go have some fun, Mary." Was my father's reply to my mother. Dad and I weren't as close as Cody and I, but I was closer with him than I was with my mother. He didn't really say much when I did something 'wrong', in fact, he never truly said much at all. Mum was the psycho one out of the pair and was the one that made my life a living hell. As for Cody, he got away with the shit that he did with mum, but when it came to dad, there wasn't any time to play around.
Cody was expected to walk in dad's footsteps – become the big business man and work alongside NASA like my father did. But, Cody being Cody obviously couldn't care less about filling dad's shoes and as much as our father tried, he just couldn't get a hold of Cody. And Cody usually listens to our father but these days, daddy's been letting loose on the reigns a bit. No idea why.
The week had passed exceedingly quickly. Cody spent every night with me and we'd share his dinner seeing as our mother was depriving me of it and Friday was coming up fast. Dad was having a big dinner with the astronauts who landed on Ultra along with Mr. Calcus Cavil on Friday. This was when mum's ridiculous dinner punishment was overruled and I'd get to join the rest of the pricks for dinner.
"I hope you're not going to do anything that might get me into trouble, Cody." I said as I shoved the last synthesized carrot into my mouth. It was the Thursday before the dinner and Cody had asked me to come in for a favor.
"Knowing our lovely mother, anything I do is bound to get you into trouble, really." He said as he slipped on his t-shirt. We were sat in Cody's gigantic room, hardcore rock music playing in the background as he tried on different black shirts as if the same shirt with different symbols would make him look any better than he did in the last. I lied on his bed and sighed as he tried on yet again another shirt.
"What exactly are you asking me to do, Codes?" I said as I glanced at him through the reflection of his floor to ceiling mirror.
He straightened out his shirt and answered, "You just gotta cover for me until my date is over."
"And how long is that going to be?"
"'Bout an hour or so." He answered matter-of-factly and I groaned out loud.
"I'm going to die. Mum's going to murder me and it's going to be your fault!" I whined. "Who is this girl anyway? Is she even pretty?" I asked as I grabbed one of his magazines on his glass bedside table. Flipping through it, I said, "And don't tell me it's Rosalie. Because if it's her I'm definitely not covering for your ass." My mind only processed what I was looking at when I blinked down at the page and saw tons and tons of boobs.
