I sat in that jail cell for a whole day before someone came to save me. I was staring at the floor when dickhead Joe came to my cell, growling out, "Fuller. You made bail."
He looked utterly annoyed that I was leaving and when I walked out the doors of the police station, I turned and looked at him while walking back, blew him another kiss and flipped him off. He growled and stormed back into the building.
I looked for my savior and found none other than my heroic brother. I practically floored him when I leaped into his arms. He laughed and scooped me up, pulling me closer until my back cracked. I wriggled out of his grip. "It's so good to see you again!"
He smiled smugly. "Obviously. What happened to you? You look like shit."
"It's a long story. Can we go?"
I moved towards his cruzer but he stopped me, suddenly looking uneasy. "Jane, I can't take you anywhere."
"What do you mean?"
"Something's wrong with Ursula and the baby. She's at the hospital."
I nodded as I smiled at him, thoroughly impressed. "Your wife might be dead by now and you came to bail your convict sister outta jail. Damn, I love you, Cody."
He smiled sheepishly, and then his face scrunched up. "I called mom."
My face dropped instantly. "Okay, I don't love you anymore." I stared at him blankly. "What the fuck, Cody. Out of all the people on the fucking planet, you call our demented mother?"
"I didn't know what else to do." He told me in a hurry. "I'm sorry, okay. I just – I thought it was the best thing to do."
"The best thing to do, huh?" I scoffed and lifted up my jacket sleeves, revealing my scars. "Look at this. This is what she did to me." He looked utterly traumatized, his brain unable to process what he was seeing. I ripped the sleeves back down. "And this is only half of it." Our attention was pulled towards a cruzer that looked just like Mary's pulling up before the station and I realized that was because it was hers.
She came to a slow stop and stepped out, then began waltzing over to us. I panicked. "Take me with you or throw me back in jail. I'd rather look at Ursula's ugly orange vagina or spend another few nights with dickhead Joe than go with her. Please, Cody. Don't make me go with her."
Indecision consumed him. "Jane, I – I don't know what – I-I can't–"
Mary appeared at our side and looked down at me, her scars still there from when I scratched her. And the fact that she tried covering it up with her makeup only made me smile in contentment. At least I could hide mine. "Jane." She seethed.
"Mary." I replied coolly. "How's the, uh, the cheek?" I smirked at her.
She let out a heavy breath. "Don't – call me that." She said, ignoring my question.
"It's your name, isn't it?"
"That's – that's not the–" She cut herself short and turned to her son. "Cody, dear. Why don't you run along back to Ursula? I'll take care of your sister."
"Please do not refer to me in third person." I said but as usual, I was ignored.
Cody spared me a glance and gave me an assuring nod, as if everything would be okay now, turned and left me with the devil. She turned to me as soon as Cody was gone, gripped my arm and pulled me to the cruzer.
