My mother breezed out of the room and as soon as the door slid shut, I got onto my hands and knees and glanced under the bed.

"She truly is a lovely woman." Dylan grinned. I smiled in return and stood, after which he rolled out from under the bed and I punched open the window. Another second and he whipped me around, his lips were on mine again and his hands were threaded through my hair. Those luscious, delectable lips. I could kiss him forever. But not right now. I reluctantly pulled away and he rested his forehead on mine.

I exhaled. "You should go."

"Yeah, alright." He let me go and jumped out the window. I turned and watched him, holding my hand above the sensor, ready to close the window once he was gone. But before I could, he called my name. "Jane."

"Yeah?"

Leaning in through the window, he grabbed my wrist and pulled me to him, kissing me one last time. After which he bid me goodnight with that signature smirk and trotted away down the street. I couldn't keep the smile off my face as I watched him trot down the street. He turned a corner and disappeared and even without seeing him, the effect of what just happened singed my skin in delight and wanting, my lips in particular.

I could still feel him – his body up against mine, his hands through my hair and my nails dug deeply into his broad back. Looking down at them, I touched my thumb to the tips of my fingers, remembering the pleasure it brought as he kissed me, our tongues twisted in a battle that we both craved to win.

Is this truly what life is like in the higher sections?

I began freshening up for dinner as mother requested. But as soon as I caught sight of the enormous purple patch on my neck, I nearly had heart failure. I made sure I wore my hair down for dinner – something that wasn't really like me but desperate times call for desperate measures. I went down as soon as the thing on my neck was fully covered and arrived to a full table. It was already set with cutlery and trays of food, and everyone already sat in their allocated places, all waiting for me.

Their eyes darted up to mine, and where dad and mom's looks were that of approval and pride – no doubt him and mother have been talking about my recent change in behavior these past few days – Cody's was filled with skepticism and disappointment. I took a seat next to him and immediately without word, tray lids slid open and our food was warm and ready for consumption.

The first few minutes of dinner were silent as expected, but once everyone dug into their synthesized steak, father piped up. "How was your day, sweetie?" He asked. "What time did Jeremy leave?"

I mentally kicked him and myself for not waiting 'til dad left to call Jeremy inside today. Thing is, the idiot needed parental permission to enter the house, and seeing as mom was already out and had no clue about anything at all, I had to settle for dad.

Mother's eyes shot to father's. "Jeremy was here today?"

"Yes. For quite some time actually." Cody answered slyly and I shot him a glare.

"Oh dear, Jane. I hope you didn't let him into your room." Mom said, looking all too concerned whether a gay boy was in my room or not. If only she knew about Dylan.

"Of course not, mom." I said, giving Cody's foot a good kick under the table. He flinched but nobody seemed to notice. "He actually just came by to say hello. Left not too long after dad and Cody."
