A constant battle raging silently between you and the one you love would have to be the worst. Dylan seemed to make sure he wasn't giving me anything more than what I physically needed. And that just happened to be hello's, goodbye's, and making sure he was around enough to ensure I didn't do anything stupid.
The distance he's created between us was killing me. And nobody could fill the gap this time. Not even Cassy. I wanted to talk to Cody so bad. His picture arrived in the paper one morning. A picture of the prestigious son of the famous Fuller family and his 'gorgeous' wife. He stood next to her, her stomach practically protruding out of the fucking picture, and his hand around her back, protectively.
His smile could fool everyone but me. I could see how forced everything was. Just the fact that he had to touch her in the picture repulsed him. I didn't know how he was coping. I didn't know how he was feeling. He looked utterly depressed with his life and I wasn't there to help bring him back to happiness.
Mary called every day. Not for Cavil, but for me, begging me to come home because Peter had made her life a living hell for letting me leave. Forcing me to come home would definitely look bad to the press, especially since I've left on my own accord.
Apparently, Mary was going to bed with a few more bruises and scars every night when she failed to bring me back. Well, no one said karma was a cute little girl that'll hand you flowers when she comes by. Nope, karma is the spawn of fucking Satan. And I hope that bitch was getting everything she deserved. And more.
All that was left of my 'utterly traumatic experience', were the scars. I kept the bandages on to cover them up. Ugly looking pieces of shit, they were. Every time I looked at them, I relived that joyous night. The night I almost had fun and then reality checked in like, 'What the fuck? You don't get to have fun'. Yup, and it handed me my spaghetti with extra-large meaty meatballs.
To make matters worse, our planet decided she wanted us off sooner than we planned. The south side of the dome wasn't the only place getting tremors every few minutes now. It spread throughout the dome and shook the walls of the Coltch's house. But that was nothing compared to what was happening in the higher sections.
"As you can see here, the entire dome of Section 68 was washed clean off the face of the earth during the flood." A reporter added, the screen flashing images of piles of rubble flowing along with an ocean of mucky brown water. "Connection with sections 69 and higher has been cut off completely. We can only hope the rest are all well."
The flood in 68 wasn't the only recent catastrophe. Section 72 was practically turned to dust from the earthquake before the flood cut off our connection with the higher sections, and 25's dome was completely covered in snow. The tram could go up as far as Section 67. After that, nothing existed. My problems were miniscule compared to what we were about to face. And I could tell, the shit was about to hit the fan, and fast.
It was on that one very special morning that I got an unexpected visitor. I was watching the news with Maria. She and I have grown quite close over these few days during my recovery and I really enjoyed her company. It was definitely better than being alone all day until either Dylan or Liam came back.
The reporter was in standing next to a beautiful water fountain, reporting about the quake, the debris created in Section 72 appearing in a small block next to the reporter's head as he spoke. And suddenly, the doorbell rang.
