I knew it was only a matter of time before she found me. It had only been a few days before she showed up on the Coltche's front porch, looking like all types of shit. Her red-blotched eyes confirmed the immense guilt she felt as a result of her actions.

Her hair, while looking at least a bit presentable, was dirty and lighter than usual and her skin just looked plain horrific, as did her skinny legs and boney face. And I reveled in her pain.

"Sorry, Mr. Cavil's not in today." I said sweetly as she hurried up the porch. "Would you like to leave a message?"

"Jane!" Mary cried. "Oh, Jane! I've been worried sick."

She leaned in, stretching her arms out to hold me and I stepped back. "Touch me again and I'll cut off your hands."

She flinched back as her eyes widened in shock. But understanding came to her soon, and she nodded slowly, clutching onto her bag with her now broken nails. I suppose she got rid of them once she'd seen their capabilities. A tissue stuck out of her one hand and she dabbed her eyes as fresh tears leaked down her face.

"Jane... I... I can't begin to describe how sorry I am, I..." Sniff, sniff. "I only realized what had happened afterwards. And I saw your broken door and the blood and..." She began weeping. I watched her blankly, unable to feel a shred of, well, anything for the woman before me.

She blew her nose in the tissue that was probably already full of snot, and glanced up at me hopefully. "Please come home. I've learnt my lesson. I don't want you gone anymore. Please, Jane."

Slowly, I shook my head. She could force me to come back, given the state of things. But I'd try prevent that before she realised she could, and I'd fight her every step of the way. "I don't live there anymore, Mary. Until I say, 'I do', this is my address for the time being. You can write it down though I'm certain you won't forget, and let Peter know, alright. I'm not missing or anything. I just moved out." I smiled.

"You – You can't possibly stay here, Jane. It's not ladylike to–"

"Fuck ladylike, Mary." I cut her off, and again, her mouth slapped shut in shock. I went on. "I don't give a shit about what people think. My parents forced me into a troublesome predicament and I needed to take the necessary precautions in getting away from them as soon as possible. You know, to prevent anything else from occurring. But thank you for stopping by. Just know, this will be the first and the last. I don't ever want to see your face near here ever again and if I do, I will have to go even further and get a restraining order." I warned and even though I didn't think it was possible, her eyes widened even more. "Now, we don't want that, do we, Mary?"

There's no way in hell I'd be able to get a restraining order against my parents, but I don't think she'd call my bluff.

"What are you saying!" she wept suddenly. "Stop calling me, Mary! I am your mother! Now come home right now! Please."

She leaned in again, stepping over the safe boundary I'd placed between us and panic erupted within me. I couldn't have her touch me again. Ever again. Consumed by fear, I whipped out the gun I found in Liam's closet and aimed it at her before she got close enough to touch me. She stumbled back, holding a hand to her chest in shock.

"Jane, what–"

"Don't make me use this, Mary. Because I will. I swear to God, I will."

My voice trembled towards the end of my threat, despite my attempt at keeping it steady. My hand holding the gun quaked despite the order from my brain telling it to stay firm. Another second, and more people joined the party.
