Chapter 38: Jealousy Strikes

Katsuko's POV:

We walk down to where Hiroki's old house was, now in pieces and fragments. Hiroki didnt know what to think or believe. I can tell he was extremely upset.

"Hiroki?" I ask.

He doesnt say a word.

I begin to think.. why would Ara want us out of Nao so badly..Was she apart of the attack?

"This is all my fault.." Hiroki mumbled.

"Huh?! How?! It was Ara who told us to leave!" I inform.

Hiroki perked up as if he realized what had happened.

"Ara.. she had something to do with this, I can tell! Why else would she want us to leave the house so badly? She wanted to help Hideki attack, yet didnt want to kill us with ZexEN." Hiroki realized.

"Thats what I was thinking.." I agreed.

Saruko fell silent.

"Saruko?" I ask.

His face turns red in embarrassment.

"Everything alright?" Hiroki asks hesitantly.

"I just....trusted her..nevermind.." He said dismissing his emotions.

Just then, we all hear a caw of some sort. Like from an eagle, we look up and an eagle perches on a burnt up lamp post.

It cocks its head and studies us, it swoops down and lands infront of me and looks up. Its eyes widen as it turns into a human form..!

It was Arnia.

"Ar-Arnia?!" I ask in shock.

"I cannot believe you're here!" Quick after Arnia says that, her eyes widen as she realizes her covers blown.

"Uhhh...gotta fly!" She says and turns into eagle form and begins to fly away.

"Wait!" I yelled.

No response.

I turn into wolf form and howl to show her, she turns around and her eyes beam. I become human form infront of her.

She comes back down in human form.

"Sorry, I didnt realize you were a power creature." She apologized.

"Its okay, we all are." I said.

"Sweet. So uh, what are yall doin' here?" She asked.

"This is where we... actually live..." Saruko stutters.

Hiroki is in awe still, he is in shock by the beauty and uniqueness of Arnia.

"Hiroki, Saruko, we need to go work on defeating Hideki.. We need to save these peop--" I tried saying.

"Lets just take a break on that for now.." Hiroki dismisses me.

"Huh?" Saruko asks.

"Please?" Hiroki asks.

"I mean, ugh what am I saying.. Arnia, we'll talk later." Hiroki dismisses Arnia.

I have a short sigh of relief, but I still think Hiroki has an interest in her..

We begin walking into the main area of the city. I look down at the ground trying to convince myself Hiroki doesnt like Arnia.

"Katsuko? Is everything okay? Youre so quiet today..." Hiroki asks.

I begin to look up at Hiroki.

"Well somethings kind of bothering me.." I sigh.

"Hm? What is it?" He asks.

"Well... You almost gave up saving this town...over a girl... I feel like you kind of....like her..." I say.

"Im sorry Katsuko, look if you dont want me talking to her, I'll stop just say the word." He said.

I smiled and hugged him.

"You can still talk to her just...please dont fall for her.." I said.

"I wont." He promises.
