Chapter 11
"Can you be my nightingale?
Sing to me
I know you're there
You could be my sanity
But bring me peace
Sing me to sleep
Say you'll be my nightingale" - Nightingale - Demi LovatoThe amazing smell of food drifted through my nose that woke me up on Thanksgiving morning. My mom must be hard at work getting all the food ready for tonight's feast.
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite days of the year including my birthday and Christmas.
Its a tradition that every Thanksgiving family and friends gather at our house and we have a big dinner with a never ending amount of food. My grandparents come along with Austin and Dauton's family. We always have a fun time hanging out watching the parade, playing games, and just being in each other's company.
I look forward to it every year.
I picked up my phone and scrolled through social media. Instagram and snapchat were already flooding with pictures of people giving thanks to their family and friends and it wasn't even ten in the morning yet.
My door cracked open and Austin popped in his head in. "Hey, you're awake."
"I just woke up," I said while yawning. He chuckled as he moved his body all the way into my room and sat on my bed.
"You and your love to sleep."
I shrugged, knowing he was right. I do love my sleep and It's not pretty when I don't get enough.
"The parade is about to come on. I was coming to wake you up to watch it."
I sat up in bed, knowing that I needed to get up anyways to get ready for the day. I looked down at my yoga pants and simple T-shirt and decided it was fine to leave on for the rest of the morning.
I got up and followed Austin down stairs to the living room where Dauton and my siblings were sitting and watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade.
I took a seat on the couch beside Austin and pulled a blanket over us. The parade had just started and I was happy. This might be my favorite part of Thanksgiving. Other than the food, of course.
I leaned my head on Austin's shoulder and yawned. I could probably fall back asleep again.
"Why are you still sleepy?" He asked.
"I'm always sleepy," I mumbled. He chuckled and positioned himself to a more comfortable position.
That's how I spent my morning, watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade cuddling up to my best friend.
----
The parade was on for a few hours and then after it went off Austin and Dauton went home to get ready and I went back up to my room to get ready as well.
I picked out a simple white shirt with a cream long sleeve cardigan and blue skinny jeans with my brown booties.
