Chapter 30

"You held your head like a hero
On a history book page
It was the end of a decade
But the start of an age" - Long Live - Taylor Swift

I woke up this morning with the biggest smile on my face, and butterflies fluttering in my stomach. Why, you may ask? Well, today I'm closing one chapter and starting another.

It's Graduation Day people, and I could not be more excited!

Today's events included getting to sleep in, and I just woke up. I'm meeting Kyle and his friends, which have become my own friends, for lunch. After that, Vanessa and I will get ready together, and then it's Graduating time!

It was finally starting to warm up outside from the dreary and cold winter, and that also made me excited. I could finally wear shorts without freezing my ass off. I picked out a pair of faded blue jean shorts and a blue T-shirt.

I was just meeting the crew for lunch, it's not like I needed to dress to impress. Or did I, since Kyle was going to be there? This past month has been extremely crazy with softball wrapping up, my baby brother being born, and graduation coming up. Kyle and I text some and we talk at school, but we really haven't got to hang out in a while. I miss him, and I don't even want to think about what it's going to be like without him now that we are graduating and he's moving to North Carolina to attend Duke University in less than three months.

Just thinking about it made me have that sinking feeling in my stomach, and tears brimming my eyes. I have a feeling I'll be experiencing this a lot today.

I bounded down the stairs and went into the living room to see my mother holding my new baby brother. It's definitely been a transition, but I am so happy he's came into our life. Today was a Friday, so my other siblings were at school and my dad was at work. Since my mom just had a baby, she was still on leave.

"I'll see you later," I told her, giving her and Reid a kiss on the head.

"Have fun sweetie. Enjoy today, it's going to be bitter/sweet."

I smiled sadly, "I know, I've already been thinking about it since I woke up this morning."

"Just think of it as the first day of your life instead of the last. There is so much more to this life than high school." She told me.

"Wow mom, who knew you were such the philosopher." I joked.

She laughed as Reid started to squirm and wake up. "Go have fun with your friends. I'll see you in a little bit."
