Chapter 26
"From when we were the children playing in this fairground
Wish I was there with you now" - This Town - Niall HoranToday is the twins eighteenth birthday; by twins I mean Austin and Dauton. A tradition we have always carried out over the years for their birthday is we all gather at the Reece household and stay up all night playing games and eating junk food. Tonight we plan on celeberating the way we always have and I couldn't be more excited for it.
I haven't gotten to hang out with Austin in a while and I really could use a night chilling with my best friends.
"You ready to go?" My asked as I walked into our kitchen. I nodded and grabbed the two birthday cards sitting on the counter for Austin and Dauton. We just got them money because what else are you suppose to give two eighteen year olds?
We went on our way and when we pulled into the Reece's driveway, I got really excited. The twins' older brother, Blake was home from college for the weekend. He has always been like my big brother and we love picking on each other. I sure have missed being around him since he's moved away for college. The last time I saw him was Thanksgiving when they all came to our house.
I hopped out of the car and practically ran up the steps and inside the house. Blake happened to be the one to open the door when my brother knocked on the door. "Blake!!" I squealed as I wrapped my arms around his body.
"Hey Kiddo," he chuckled as he hugged me back. "I've missed you."
"I've missed you too," I mumbled.
"It's my birthday, yet Blake is getting all the love." I hear a voice say behind Blake. Of course it's Austin and I grin when I see my blonde hair best friend.
I let go of Blake and made my way to Austin. "Happy Birthday A," I said giving him a hug. He smelled amazing and I tried to ignore the butterflies in my stomach. Why is hugging Austin making me nervous? It's really starting to creep me out.
"Thanks B," he smiled as he pulled away from the hug.
No, come back. I thought as he hugged my other family members and walked them into the kitchen where everyone else was.
My father joined the twin's dad, along with Dauton outside at the grill. They were grilling hamburgers and they smelled amazing. I can't wait to dig in!
My mom was chatting up a storm with their mom, Jennifer while Austin was entertaining the kids. It was nice to just take it all in, and enjoy the joyful vibe that was filling this house. I some awesome family and friends that I would never want to ruin.
Which is why I am so afraid of the growing feelings I am getting for Austin.
Speaking of the blonde hair cutie, he catches my eye and makes his way to the counter where I was sitting. He plops down on the stool beside me and places his hand on my knee, "How has your week been? I feel like I haven't talked to you in forever."
"I know," I reply and think how true it is. We used to talk every day and now we might only talk to each other every couple of days. "I've been busy working this week and getting ready to graduate at school."
"Becca's about to be a high school graduate. How crazy is that?"
I laughed, "You're going to be graduating too! But, yeah it's crazy."
Austin rolled his eyes, "You can barely count a ceremony of ten students getting a small diploma for finishing twelve years of home schooling graduating."
"We're getting old, A" I told him.
"We really are."
The door from outside opens and Austin's father carries the plate of burgers in the house. "Lets eat guys!"
