Chapter 12

"Cause there'll be no sunlight
If I lose you, baby
There'll be no clear skies
If I lose you, baby" - It will rain - Bruno Mars

I jumped in fear once the thunder boomed outside. Lightning streaked across the night sky as the rain poured down and pelted on the roof and window of my bedroom.

I've always hated thunderstorms but it is so much worse when you are home alone, like I am right now. My parents went out for the night and still were not back. My siblings were at my grandparents and I had work earlier. I was going to go to my grandparents after I got off from work so I didn't have to be alone but I hate driving in rain and it was closer to just come on home.

I had called Austin to come over so I wouldn't be alone but he already had plans and his mom didn't want him out late during this bad storm.

So I was stuck home alone, terrified, in this bad thunderstorm.

I kept all the lights and televisions on to make me feel safer and I tried to read a book to keep me distracted.

That was what I was doing when I got the phone call that nearly gave me a panic attack.

I laid my book down that I was reading and answered my phone.

"Hey V, what's up?"

"Becca?" Vanessa said quietly over the phone. I sat up from my lying position on my bed.

"Yeah?"

"Have you heard about Kyle?" She asked me. Her voice was quiet and it scared me.

My heart started beating fast and I could already feel the anxiety swirling in my stomach, making me feel sick. "No I haven't. Why?"

Something was wrong. I could just feel it but I am hoping it's nothing.

"Have you checked social media in a while?"

"Vanessa, what's going on? You're scaring me." My breaths were coming out faster now and I felt like I could pass out any minute. I hate this feeling, the feeling of a panic attack.

"Kyle has been in a car accident. He's in the hospital. Im sorry Becca, I figured you knew by now."

"Oh my god! I have to go!" I dropped the phone, not even checking to see if I hung up on Vanessa or not. I had to leave, I need to get to the hospital to see Kyle.

I knew something was wrong! My instincts have always been right when it came to something being not right.

Oh God, I hope he's okay. What if he's not? Vanessa didn't tell me how serious the accident was but all I know is that he's in the hospital.

I hurriedly grabbed my keys off my desk and my phone off the floor. Thankfully I already had a pullover on so all I had go to was put my UGG boots on and I was out the door.

Before I was out the door though, Vanessa has sent me a text message.

Please be careful on the roads. Let me know how he is.

The rain was coming down really hard but that isn't going to stop me from going to see if Kyle is okay. I hate driving at night and it makes it worse that it's storming and normally I wouldn't dare be out driving right now but that is different.
