MATT
What the fuck?
One minute she's sweetly asking me to help grab some shit for the barbecue and the next she's staring daggers at me and telling me we need to talk? Who the fuck is this girl that took the place of the one from Louisiana?
"Don't look at me like that. You know exactly who I am." She looks as if she's ready to slap my head off with one single blow.
I think I'm gonna have fun with this. "Yeah. You're Alex, Luke's girl." My chest tightens once again at my own words
"Don't play stupid. I know you remember me from Louisiana," She says as she rolls her eyes.
"What the hell is your problem? Yes, I recognize you from last summer, so? Do you have a point or are you just gonna stand there and gawk at me?" I say with a devilish smile near the end of my words, clearly angering her rage.
She takes a step back and tries to sort out a comeback. "You have no right to be angry here. I had no idea you were Luke's bestfriend, hell! I didn't even know your name, asshole!" Sunshine has sass. I like it.
"Angry? Trust me, I'm not angry sweetheart. For fucks sake, you're the one who asked me for help with these damn groceries, and somehow I'm the one getting yelled at for no good reason! Now get to your point, unless you want Luke to come out here and find out what it is himself!" I say while throwing my hands up in the air in frustration. How the hell is that I'm the one who always gets griped out somehow? And she's not even my damn girlfriend?
She glances back from me to the door, making sure my accusations aren't found out to be true. Everything I once felt about her an hour ago was slowly being wiped away with her glare alone. She was hot as hell yelling at me I admit, but she's seriously acting as if I have some fault in this. Whatever this is.
She looks at the ground, then back to me, trying to stand tall and I assume, intimidate me. Please.
"I..I don't know, I was just making myself clear. I am Luke's girlfriend and you're gonna have to be okay with that." I throw my head back in laughter at her words.
"Sunshine, who gave you the impression I cared? I met you a year ago and didn't even know you long enough to know your name. Don't you think I would've caught that if I cared for you?" Her eyes widened at my words, clearly effecting her.
I felt a singe of guilt for a moment, but I knew I couldn't have her thinking I actually had feelings towards her. She's nothing special. She's not.
"You are such an asshole. I don't know what I saw in you last summer. Why I even bothered to think that we could actually be civil!" She says as she takes a step towards me, the sadness now gone from her eyes and replaced with by anger.
"I don't fucking know either! Maybe you're not the genius you think you are!" I yell.
Her hands quickly ball into fists at her side. She actually looks pretty adorable. What the fuck is my problem?
"I don't even know why I thought to try." She says as she grabs a few bags from the trunk, allowing them to hit me as she marches past me.
I hear the door slam as I grab the bottom of the trunk with my fists. I slam down with one fist, trying not to damage something in the process. What am I thinking? No one cares about what I do and neither do I. I never have.
What makes her thinks she can make a difference? I'm just glad I got her to back off, to stop her from trying. Lord knows what would happen if I let her.
