MATT

We arrive at Alex's house within about thirty minutes, but I could've sworn it took twice as long as usual. The whole time I couldn't stop thinking about Luke, and Alex. I'm ninety nine percent sure Alex wasn't too happy about my little out burst with Luke, but she didn't stop me either. But what was I supposed to do? He was talking to her like a piece of trash, like some random girl off the street. It took me off guard, he's sudden switch in behavior. As far as I know, he's never even had an argument with Alex, much less talked to her the way he did tonight. For Luke's sake, I hope this was the first time.

Then I start to think about his charges, or almost charges. I mean, embezzlement? I know it mostly had to do with his dad, but if Luke was involved in any way, he's in some deep sh*t. That itself makes me wonder, I didn't see his dad walk out with him. Did they charge him? Maybe that was why Luke came out all pissed off... plus, Ashley was arrested only hours after Luke. I saw Alex eyeing her as she walked in, as if she was a venomous snake. Maybe she is.

I look at Alex as we park in the driveway at her house, and she reaches for the door handle.

"Wait, don't. I got it," I quickly speak up as I shut off the engine and unbuckle myself before running around to Alex's side to open her door. I feel as if I should make up somehow for Luke blowing up on her for something I had a part in, she didn't deserve that. I just want to make her feel better.

She steps out with her head down, as if she's trying to hide from me. I place two fingers under her chin and lift her head to meet my gaze, but she still refuses. Stubborn, gorgeous girl.

"Hey, what's wrong?" As if I'm clueless to her emotions. I just want her to open up to me. "Look at me," I say in a more authoritative, stern voice. She listens this time and her beautiful golden eyes meet mine, and I notice in this light her eyes look a light brown.

She takes a deep breath before tilting her head to the side for a moment. "More like, what's not wrong. I cheated on my boyfriend with his best friend who I have a secret past with, whom just found out an hour ago and ended our relationship. And not only that, but he and my bestfriend were just arrested for being suspected of embezzlement, of all things! I have no idea what the f*ck is going on anymore and I'm tired of it! I-I'm just so lost a-and I don't, I don't even know what I'm going to do-"

She's full on crying now, and I interrupt her by taking her tear-stained face in my hands, forcing her to look at me and take a breath. I honestly think for a moment about kissing her to calm or soothe her, but that may just make her more upset. I don't know what the hell I'm doing either, but I need to be strong for her.

"Hey, shhh. Listen to me. Whatever Luke did or what he's involving himself with is not your fault. Don't you dare think that for a second, do you hear me?" I stop and watch for a response, to which she nods her head and sniffles. God she's adorable.

"As far as you and I, it's not completely your fault. I had a part in it too, it wasn't just you. And quite frankly, I'm not sorry. Not one bit, not for anything. I like and care about you, and nothing you will ever say or do will ever change that. Yes, you may piss me off, and I know for a fact that I'll piss you off or even make you cry at times, but you're worth it to me. I know you don't fully trust me or my motives yet, and I understand that. I'm a pain in the ass," I chuckle and so does she. "I'm so sorry for hurting you the way I did last summer, there's not a bone in my body that doesn't regret what happened. All I ask you to do is trust this one thing, and thats the fact that I will never lie to you. I haven't so far, and I don't plan to start now," I stop to take a breath and she giggles slightly at my nerves. I'm caught off guard when she wraps her small frame around mine, pressing her cheek to my chest as my chin goes to treat on the top of her head. I love how she's so tiny.
