Very important question at the bottom!

ALEX

later that night

"Alex!" My mother yells from the kitchen. "Dinner's almost ready!"

I stop my dance movements and turn my music down on my beats stereo to respond. "Alright, I'll be there in a minute!" I yell back as I adjust the white tank top over my grey sweats.

I turn the Ellie Goulding song back up and start singing along, swaying my hips and reaching my hands into the air. I've always loved dancing, I used to take lessons until last year, when everything changed and my dad passed away. My passion for it slowly slipped through my fingers and became nothing but a distant memory, just as other passions had as well. Something died in me, in my heart when my father left this place. I spent my time with Bryan months later trying to revive that dull ache in my chest, but nothing came. He introduced me to the partying lifestyle, and that only made me try things I'd never thought, like alcohol and even drugs. It was never my style, but at that point I didn't know what was anymore.

I pushed the thoughts away of my past and focused on the present, the way the beat of the song matched the sway of my body. I focused on the words and how it made me feel, until I hear a low chuckle behind me.

"Nice moves," I hear a husky deep voice say behind me, and I quickly turn around to see Matt grinning widely at me.

"How long were you standing there?" I ask through my teeth. My face flushes pink with embarrassment, and I cross my arms over my chest.

He chuckles again as he leans up against my doorway, crossing his arms over his chest as well and making his biceps look twice as big. "Long enough," He answers cheekily.

I narrow my eyes at him and take a deep breath. He stares at me for a moment with his eyes soft, before walking over to me in his white v-neck and black skinny jeans. I look down at his chest involuntarily, then meet his piercing blue eyes that are already staring down at me. He reaches to tuck a stray piece of hair behind my ear and I can't help but gasp a little in my throat at the sweet gesture. His hand stays in place by my jaw, softly caressing it with his thumb and causing my heart to jump in my throat.

"No need to worry, your secrets safe with me," He winks and the left side of his mouth turns up in a grin. I stand there motionless as he does so, and I watch him walk out a moment later with his hands in his pockets.

What the hell is he doing here anyways?! I take a deep breath and slowly walk out into the living room, leading to the kitchen, where I see my mom setting some type of casserole onto the table with Matt already seated on one side. I narrow my eyes at him and he winks at me, to which I look at my mother and wait for her back to turn and mouthing 'fuck off'. Matt chuckles and my mom's head turns around to give us a weird glance, before coming to sit across from Matt and I, him on one side of the table and I on the other, with mom at the end.

"This looks wonderful Mrs. Parker, thank you so much for letting me stay for dinner," He sweetly smiles at my mother. How long was he here before barging into my room??

"Its no problem, you're always welcome here. I know how much you mean to Alex," Her eyes flicker to me with a knowing smile, then to Matt. What the hell is she trying to pull?

My eyes widen and I nudge my foot at her ankle, giving her a look that she knows too well that screams 'cut it out'. She only smiles at me, then continues eating. I sigh in relief a little when she stays quiet, allowing us to eat in peace. I take a sip of my water, sort of wishing it was liquid courage instead.
