Chapter 021

Days.. weeks.. and even months passed. The next thing I knew, prom na pala. Ang bilis pala ng panahon. Pero still.. no sign of Xander. Simula nung iniwan niya ako sa hallway, when he told me he is in love with me.. nabalitaan ko na lang mula kina Mommy na nangibang-bansa na ang mga Martinez. They just left the country, and no one knew the reason or how to contact them. Kahit nga sila Mama na matatalik na kaibigan nila Mr. and Mrs. Martinez ay walang alam.

"Bulaga." Jared said when he stood beside me. Nagulat ako sa kanya, pero nakakatawa kasi seryoso yung mukha niya, mukhang hindi nanggugulat eh. Alam niyo yun?

"Jared. Ang ganda ng stars, no?" I said while looking up doon sa sky.
He nodded. "Yeah.. beautiful like you." 

I blushed and hit him playfully in his shoulder. "Ikaw talaga, nambola pa. Ay nako, ewan ko sa'yo Jared. I'm not beautiful."
Jared held my hand and I stared at it, tapos I stared at him.

"Audrey.. can you smile for me?" 

I smiled. "Oh? I'm smiling. Nyeee." 
He smiled back. "Oo ngumingiti ka.. your lips smile but your eyes don't."

"Eh kasi naman Jared.. kasi.."

"Kasi, you're still in love with Xander. And you miss him. Alam ko naman yun eh. Kahit na.. masakit.. na panakip-butas lang ako. That's okay, mahal naman kita eh." he smiled pero alam kong nasasaktan nga siya. 

"I'm sorry Jared.. it's just that.. hindi ko alam.. but I can't just forget about Xander."

Tears started to fall. Jared, whose still holding my hand, grabbed me and hugged me tight. Hinaplos-haplos niya yung buhok ko and I cried at his chest. 
"Audrey, sana makalimutan mo rin si Xander.." he whispered at me.

I just cried. Wala na rin naman akong masasabi eh. But.. I just wished na sana makalimutan ko na nga si Xander. Na sana.. kay Jared na lang ako mahulog. At least siya.. he won't leave me and hurt me.

Pero I am certain na there's a reason why Xander left me. Whatever the reason is, anong ibig-sabihin niyang hindi pwedeng maging kami?
