After my last meeting with Hunter, I was mentally frustrated. Past few weeks has been so eventful that I've been thinking way too much about the people I didn't have anything to do with. Like Lucas rejecting me. Zach's sudden interest in me. Jared trying to help me make Lucas jealous. And Hunter. Hunter was a different story. I was having this odd feeling where my old feelings for him were rising from the dead, but I pushed them down even further.
There was a zombie apocalypse taking place in my heart.
Now I was on the phone, taking my frustration out on my best friend.
"You promised!" I shouted into the phone that I was holding up to my ear.
"I know I did babe, but this is going to be the best party of the year!" he repeated himself for the third time.
"Austin~" I whined, "you promised you would watch my stupid movies with me!"
"I'd love to watch your stupid movies with you, just not this weekend... Please, love?" He added.
"I canceled my plans for you!"
Well, that was a big fat lie, I didn't have any plans, to begin with. I just had to make him feel guilty enough for him to stay home with me. I know, call me selfish but I needed some besties time. I needed something to cheer me up from the stupid thoughts in my head.
"I'm sorry... Hey, how about you join me!" he asked as if a light bulb just went off in his head.
"NOO, no, no, no! I'm not going to another party," I refused the second he finished his last word, "you know what happened last time!"
The last time I had attended a party was last year. So, you know... I said I had feelings for Hunter? You would be thrilled to know what I did in front of a bunch of drunks, including Hunter. You ready for this? I stood on a table, and declared my love for the one and only... Hunter. I was drunk, so at that moment I felt like I was on top of the world, and not a coffee table.
I'm still surprised by the fact that the glass coffee table held up my weight without shattering into pieces.
"Yeah," I could partially hear Austin having a flashback to that party, "I should've gotten that on camera."
"Thanks... That totally makes me feel like I should go again," I retorted, sarcastically.
"But no one remembered that you said anything... Everyone was drunk. Even Hunter doesn't know about it, and he was right in front of you!" He argued only causing me to refuse even more.
"Please, come? For me, Lee? I'll be all alone without you..." He said and I could feel that he had a puppy face on.
"Fine, but I'm not getting drunk this time! I'll die from embarrassment if I did the same thing again."
I was trying to get my mind off Hunter, to let him know that he shouldn't have anything to do with me and vice versa. I also wanted to resist myself from erupting with the same feelings as last year. That went terribly.
"Pick you up at 9."
I walked down the stairs to see my mom making dinner, she was currently shoving some beans in a taco shell.
"Mom, I'm going to a party," I said and my mom suddenly turned around with a disapproving look, "with Austin," I added.
"Have fun!" A smile appeared on her face.
I had some advantages for being friend with someone my mom loved. She told me many times that Austin and I should take our friendship to the next level but I shot her down every time. It's not like I hated the thought of us being together that much, I just had my reasons. The main one being that I didn't want a break up to affect our friendship. I was thinking too ahead, I didn't even know what Austin even thought of me.
