"Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday dear Austy, happy birthday to you!" Hunter and I sang with a birthday cake in our hands.
Jared and Zach stood behind us and popped confetti poppers while shouting "woohoo" and "yeah!".
"This is embarrassing, please sit down," Austin said which caused us to repeat the song one more time.
Much louder this time.
"Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday dear Austy! Happy birthday to you," this time Jared and Zach also joined.
"I know how you feel," Casper, who was sitting at the corner of the couch, said looking at Austin, "I know what's going on in your head, 'how do I act? What do I say?' No matter how old you get, you will always feel the same way when someone sings a birthday song to you."
We all just stared at Casper as he continued on and on.
"Anyway, make a wish!" I turned back to Austin and said.
"I'm not 5," he said.
"It is us who need to make wishes, not 5 year olds... but you might not need to, your parents are loaded," Austin sighed at the grinning Hunter and closed his eyes to blow on the candles.
"What'd you wish for?" I asked.
"Since I made a wish, I would actually like for it to come true," he said taking the cake from my hands and putting it on the coffee table, "knife?"
Jared passed him a knife and all of us sat together and ate cake while watching a random game shows on TV.
After some time, Hunter stood up.
"I'm going to steal this girl now, we have plans," Hunter said, helping me up.
"What plans?" Jared asked, "Lee! I thought we had plans!"
"Well... we did, but I'm just going to pass it on to you guys," I smiled sweetly at him.
"I'm the one helping you with your project, shouldn't we have someone to supervise?" Jared whined.
"Sure, you supervise him," I said pointing at Austin, "and you, supervise him!" I pointed my finger at Jared.
"What exactly do we have to do?" Austin asked.
"Cut out stars from these holographic posters," Jared pointed at big holo posters leaning against the wall.
"That's easy, I got this. You guys have fun," Austin said shooing at Hunter and I.
"Love you, Austy, you're the best," I grinned at Austy.
"We're getting late, let's go."
"What?! 'Love you, Austy!'" Hunter mocked me as soon as we got in his car, "was that a joke?"
"No, I really do love Austin," I told him with a straight face.
"What!? Get out of my car! Right now!" He pointed at the door, "leave."
"Ok," I simply said opening the car door about to leave.
"No, stop! This is when you're supposed to say something reassuring like, 'I love you more' or something like that," he ranted.
"I love you more," I told him with the same blank face.
"Aw, I love you more than you love me!" He said grabbing my face and pecking my lips.
I couldn't help but let out my smile.
"I'm the happiest right now, you said you love me for the first time."
"Lies. I wrote it on a cake for you," I looked at him and said.
He started the car, "Hearing you say it is more special."
I quickly looked out the window to hide my smile from him.
"I can see your reflection," he smirked as he stepped on the gas pedal, "just smile if you want to. It's going to get harder to try and resist me."
"I guess," I admitted.
We went out and had a dinner date. Hunter had been wanting to go on a dinner date for a few days now and we finally made plans to do so.
We quickly got back without wasting any time because we were going to have a sleepover at Austin's house to celebrate his birthday with him.

"Who is going to prom?" Zach asked and looked at everyone for their answers.
"Not us, we're going on a date to six flags that day," Hunter said.
"Wait, then why are we cutting out these stars if you're not even going?" Jared asked and I looked up from cutting the poster.
"Because I was given the responsibility and I should finish it whether I go or not," I told jared and he groaned but continued what he was doing.
"I'm coming with you guys," Austin said looking at Hunter and I.
"Me too," Zach said.
"I'm in as well," Jared joined.
"Count me in," Casper said.
"But you have finals coming up," I told Casper.
"Mama, I studied all semester, I don't need to study for finals. I can just review the day before the exams," Casper explained to me and I nodded.
"Then, it's final, let's go to Six flags and have a sleepover like this after we come back. We can pig out on junk food," Austin said and everyone agreed.
I'm not going to lie, it sounded way better than dancing in a sweaty room with people trying to smuggle alcohol in. Juices are spiked. And wearing a dress that probably cost a fortune and you're never going to wear it again.
I'd rather spend my last days of high school with people I love the most.
