The awkward weekend was over, now we were back in school. I can see the tiredness in people's eyes who were forcefully dragging themselves to their first period class.
I didn't feel like going to the wood-shop class, so I ditched and instead went to the library. I tried finishing up all the homework that I didn't do over the weekend.
While on the last page of homework, I looked up to see the time. I still had 20 minutes for my next class. I looked around for few seconds to freshen up my mind, until I spotted Alicia. She was sitting alone in front of an open book.
I decided that it was about time we talked.
I walked up to her table and took a seat in front of her, which caused her to look up at me.
"Hey" I said.
"Get to the point" she bluntly said.
"Ok... I was thinking that it's about time we make up" I tried to keep my cool.
"No" she simply said.
"Honestly, what the heck? Why are you making a big deal out of a small thing?"
"Do you really wanna know why?" She asked me and it wasn't in the nicest way.
Before I could even say anything, "because losing your first love isn't a small thing. I lost Austin because of you."
"What do you mean because of me?" I asked.
"Don't act like you don't know!" She said a little louder than the previous statement.
"I asked him out and he told me he liked someone one else" she continued, "I asked him who it was and he said it was you."
What? There is no way Austin would tell her that. But how would she know if Austin didn't?
Somebody had to tell her that and the closest person to her was Austin. She never talked to Hunter.I had to ask Austin about it because I'm sure we agreed to never tell anyone about it. And if he did say it, I needed to know why.
As my next class was chemistry, I was going to see Austin there and that would be the perfect time to ask.
"But it's not my fault if he does he likes me" I told her.
"Yes it is, do you think I'm dumb? Weren't you getting cozy with him just to get close to him? You can fool a ghost, not me" she replied.
"If you can't understand me, I don't think I was ever a best friend to you" I said, ending the conversation. I stood up and went back to my original table where all my stuff was scattered around. I collected all my items, stuffing them in my backpack.
When I walked into the Chem class, Austin was preparing for our lab today. And by preparing I mean playing around with chemicals.
"Stop mixing random chemicals! Do you want to die?" I smacked his arm, slightly.
"Relax, I read the instructions" he said and I looked at him shocked.
"Wow... anyways, listen."
"I'm all ears in" he smiled at me.
"Yooooo! Who's ready to put shit on fire?" Mr. Campus asked and all the kids screamed in response.
We were waiting for this day, ever since the first day of class when he mentioned that we will be lighting different types of metals on fire.
