"So what was it that you wanted to talk about?" Austin asked me.
I didn't know what I wanted to say. I had a few things in mind which I couldn't put into words. I never felt this way towards Austin. I never hesitated to tell him something.
"I'll break up with Hunter," something slipped out of my mouth and I didn't even comprehend what I said.
"What?"
"I said, I'll break up with Hunter," I told him a little louder than the first time.
I had nothing else to say so I repeated myself.
"I heard that, but why?" He responded.
"Because I don't want to hurt you."
"Ok, stop!" He almost shouted, speaking a little louder than only for me to hear. I was glad that the door was locked.
"I don't know what else to do..." I told him and my head hung low.
"What do you take me for?" He said harshly, "no, what do you take yourself for?"
"I-"
"Do you think so highly of yourself that you think I'll be stuck on you forever and wouldn't be able to move on?" He continued, "do you not know me or something? Do you think I'd want you to be away from someone you love just so I'm satisfied with my life?"
"That's not-"
"Then, what do you mean? Why did this thought even come to you? Everything was going just fine, wasn't it? I gave you relationship advice, I told you about him and his past. Do you think I would do that if I didn't want to you to be with him?"
"Casper said you were really sad about it. I feel guilty that I'm the reason why this is happening to you," I said softly.
I understood why he yelled at me. And I know I would've done the same if I was in his position.
"Don't think so highly of yourself. I'm not going to cry over you forever," his voice became softer but the words were still as sharp as before, "I can get any girl I want. I'm just mixing up friendship with other emotions."
"I'm sorry," I didn't know why I apologized but I felt like I needed to.
If I was going to let my guards down, it would be better to let it down around my best friend.
"Don't ever refrain yourself from being happy because of someone else," he looked deeper into my eyes, "even if it's me."
"Okay," I said softly.
I might be the luckiest person ever when it comes to my best friend.
"Now stop with this awkward distance thing," he smiled giving me a quick hug before leaving the room.
I was left smiling and happy to have someone like him in my life.
Before I could leave, Casper entered the room and closed the door behind him.
"Hey," he said
"Hi," I answered.
"About earlier... I'm sorry for being so harsh on you," he slightly smiled.
"No, it's okay. You don't need to apologize," I smiled at him, "things happen."
"Ow, how could I scold my little girl like that," he pulled me into a hug, ruffling my hair with his fingers.
