This all started when I went to a party with Izzy. It was some warlocks birthday and of course the all powerful Magnus Bane was going to be there. He interested me greatly. His suave antics and over done make up just pulled on my heart a little. That night we conversed over the drinks he was expertly lighting on fire with his hands. That also happens to be the night we met miss Clary Fray. The ginger with the act for putting other in danger. She was one thing that Alec and I could agree on. She was a liability.

Over the course of the next few weeks she and her little mundane friend were giving me quite the head ache which drove me right to Magnus. I guess you could say we were a bit of friends with benefits. The downworlders knew nothing of our affairs and behind closed doors is where the benefit happened. At first I was confused by the side ward glances he shot toward Alec and how Alec seemed to not understand them. It wasn't until we were summoning a damn demon for the ginger when I realized what was happening. The person that meant the most to me was unclear. It was either going to be Alec, Izzy or Magnus. I didn't want anyone to know about my sins so I was hoping it would be Izzy. But when the truth came down and Alec pulled away from the circle, everything came together. Izzy gave me a knowing look. She knew about my feelings for her brother and this kind of broke me apart. Alec Lightwood, the love of my life was gay. I should have seen it coming, but I neglected to prepare myself for the heartbreak that would ensue. That night I stormed out of the circle and back to the institute. Everyone was fussing over Alec and Clary killing the demon that no one really paid attention to me, which I was grateful for. I was consuming my feelings in Vanilla ice cream when I got a call from my favorite warlock.

"Yes my dear?" I answered. He chuckled.

"My love, why the long face. I can feel your sadness." He said. I sighed. That damn warlock had the ability to see into my soul at the worst times. He gave me some relationship rune with his magic. It was kind of a one way thing, but it was so he was able to make sure I was alright. I guess I meant something to someone at least.

"It's nothing. There's just a bunch of drama here at the institute." I said, which wasn't a lie.

"You know, if those shadowhunters ever start to bore you, there's always a place for you in my world and my bed." He snidely remarked. I kind of appreciated it though.

"Cakes and mundane movies?" I asked knowing he knew what I was getting at.

"Even the notebook baby." He said. I stashed my ice cream back into my fridge.

"Send me a portal?" I asked.

"Of course. I'll see you in a bit baby." He said before hanging up. I changed into an old pair of magnus' sweats with a sports bra and headed through the portal but not before texting Izzy the 411.

"Maggy" I said as I walked into his bedroom and collapsed onto his bed. I cuddled into his chest.

"My love. What's wrong? Is the drama about Alexander and Jace?" he asked while setting up the movie.

"Yeah. Jace just dosen't understand and that stupid ginger and tearing apart their Parabatai bond." I grumbled. He nodded understandably. That's why I love being around Magnus. He's been around long enough to know when I want to talk about the crazy shit in my life and when I didn't.

The following night I was with Magnus and all of his magic friends. They were hiding from Valentine in his realm. Magnus just got back from meeting with my dear family and cleary at a down worlders club and grabbed a hold of his amor necklace. Suddenly something bad happened. Magnus' magic perimeter failed and Valentine's men were in the building. He was pushing people in the direction of the safest room in the compound while I stood with him.

"No no, you go too." He said as he tried to push me into the safe room.

"Like hell. You can't take them all by yourself baby." I told him as I took out my sword.

"Valentina, please. It will give me much peace of mind if I know you and the others are safe. Plus your family and that fray girl will be here any minute. Take this my love, it will bring you peace and please be safe." He said as he gave me his ever-important necklace with a kiss on the lips before magically pushing me into the room.

When the fiasco was over, I embraced magnus before catching a ride on Alec's back. I clung to him like a koala because even though he would never reciprocate, I could still try. Even when we got to the institute I refused to let go. Even Hodge tried to get me off, but I just clung and threatened him with my stele. He continued his work while I grabbed his stele. I took it and drew the bind to rune into his hip. I then drew it into mine as he was still damn on the screen. I waved his stele over his hip as he suddenly became aware.

"What did you do?" he asked me. I smiled innocently.

"I drew the binding rune on you." I said as he looking at me like I was crazy.

"Your crazy! How did you do it without me feeling it?" he asked. I guess he was right. He was so intent on his work he didn't even realize I burned a rune into his hip.

"Guess I'm just that good." I said. I could tell he was trying to get mad, but he couldn't. The binding rune was almost a Parabatai. We were going to be close now and I was happy about this.

"We're going to breakfast tomorrow morning." I told him. He rolled his eyes.

"Just the two of us." I added as I kissed his cheek before walking away. He scowled at me from the doorway.

The next morning I dressed in something other than black for once. I wore a pair of white jeans and a pink shirt before pounding on Alec's door.

"let's go mr grumpy." I yelled knocking on the door.

"Is there a reason I'm even going?" he asked me. I grabbed his skele and ran it over his hip.

"That's why baby." I said as he hummed. We walked out the door and into the cooridor where izzy looked up quizzically.

"What's going on here?" she asked as she noted our proximity.

"She's taking me out to breakfast." Alec said. I nodded. She pulled me aside.

"Vale" she started before I cut her off.

"I know, he likes boys. I'm just trying to reminiss on what could have been." I said as I sighed. Alec was standing in the cooridor staring at the door.

"Don't get attached Vale. Your just gonna get heartbroken." Izzy said. I know she was right.

"But we're already attached." I said as I walked over and grabbed a stool before standing next to Alec. I touched hips with him as our Runes lit up.

"Vale" Izzy said with wide eyes. I shrugged at her and gave her a hug before we left.

I knew my parabatai was right. I'm falling too hard for Alec Lightwood when I knew that all he could bring me was pain. But God damn Alec Gideon Lightwood was worth it. I think.
