As Long as it Still Works

  "Ally, can we go bowling?" I asked with an innocent look.

"What?" he asked.

"Yeah! Just like the 8 of us and max go bowling. It will be so much fun! There's this place in flushing that does 24 hour bowling." I told him. He glanced a the clock.

"It's almost 1 am Vale." He said like the answer was obvious.

"Please Alec. The babies want bowling and chicken fingers." I asked as I pulled out all the cards. He rolled his eyes at me.

"Is that all the babies want?" he asked as he moved me to the side and got up. He stretched his long torso so well.

"They also want us to sneak out max and take him with us." I asked with a smile.

"That's not happening." Jace said as he woke up.

"But the babies!" Magnus said joining my side. Jace rolled his eyes.

"Come on Uncle Jace! Don't you want to make your niece and nephew happy?" I asked with a pout. He rolled his eyes at me.

"How do you plan to sneak max out at this time? You can't portal him. His mind isn't focused enough for that." He reminded.

"I'm going to walk in a get him while you occupy anyone awake. Simple." I told him as I got up and walked into the bedroom. I changed into a pink crochet crop top with ripped light denim shorts, a pair of strappy nude heels and a green bomber jacket of Alec's. I put my hair in a messy bun before grabbing my bag and heading into the living room. Alec had gotten everyone up and informed them about the plan.

"Seriously?" Izzy asked. I smiled at my Parabatai.

"It'll be fun!" I said trying to convince her. She and Clary went into my room to change.

"You guys in?" I asked Raphe and Simon.

"Sure! But we'll take our car. We kinda need to be back in the hotel by 5." Simon said gestering to the sunlight.

"Ah yeah. Okay well we'll take our cars. Magnus and Clary with me. Jace and Alec with Izzy. We'll take Max!" I said as everyone got ready to leave.

Magnus opted to sit in the back seat while Clary sat in the front.

"Your crazy Vale." Clary commented. I laughed.

"For what?" I asked her.

"For wanting to do things at 2 am, for wearing heels while pregnant and being so brave." She told me. I was touched.

"Thank you Clary. This is just me though. I remember when I was 15, I made Alec climb to the top of the highest building with me in Idris so I could see the shooting stars. I pressured Magnus into going to Canada for maple syrup for my waffles." I told her as she laughed.

"Just wait Clary Fairchild. I can be crazy and these hormones aren't going to stop anything." I told her. She laughed.

"I'm looking forward to it." She said as we bumped shoulders.

I heard sniffling from the back seat.

"Babe are you okay?" I asked him with concern.

"Yeah, it's just that was so cute!" he said as he stuck his head in between the two of ours.

"What's the craziest thing you ever did Magnus?" Clary asked my warlock. He thought for a second before smiling.

"Falling in love with two shadowhunters."


Our plan to bust Max out of the institute without anyone noticing was simple. Jace and Magnus would be the distraction and Izzy and I would be smuggling out Max. Alec is going to keep a look out on Maryse and Roberts door and Clary was going to keep a watch for us.

We parked in front of the institute and put our plan into action. Izzy and I snuck in and stood around Max's bed.

"Max" I whispered at the youngest lightwood.

"huh?" he asked confused as he woke up. Izzy and I gave him big smiles.

"Do you want to go bowling Max?" Izzy asked her little brother. He stared at her for second before nodding.

"What time is it?" he asked as he put on some jeans.

"Almost 2 am I believe." I said as I handed him a shirt and a hoodie.

When Max was dressed, Clary motioned for us to head out. We snuck down the hallway and into the main hall. We all ran out the building as Hodge almost caught us.

Just like that we were on our way. I turned up a Enrique Iglesias song called 'I like it' in the car as we put down the sun roof. Max was dancing in his seat as Magnus encouraged him to stick his head out. He did.

We danced the entire way to the bowling ally. I even got some Spanish in my vocabulary. I snuck up behind Alec and purred some Spanish word in his ear the same time Magnus did in the other ear. Alec shuttered and turned around to Glare at us.

I hopped on Magnus' back as we headed toward the two lanes we got in. Clary decided to sit the game out as she was really tired. The teams were simple. Izzy, Magnus, Raphael and I on one team and Simon, Alec, Jace and Max on the other. I smiled at my opponents before getting my head in the game.

"Are you ready to lose?" Alec asked with his famous smirk. Magnus set his ball down and walked over to Alec. He whispered something in his ear and Alec seemed really flustered.

"What did you say to him?" Izzy asked.

"I told him hes gotta win. He's so good with playing with balls." Magnus as he danced in place. We al started laughing. Alec missed that shot for sure.

The bowling alley turned into a dance party. They were playing some lit latin dance music. It reminds me of when I was partying with Izzy in Cabo.

"Doesn't this remind you of cabo?" I asked her. Her face lit up.

"That was such a good trip!" she said as she reminissed on it.

"Next time we'll go to Ibiza and take Clary." I told her. She nodded.

"That'd be so much fun!" she said as she daydreamed of the trip.

Our team, know as team tri worlder won the game. We ended at around 4 am and Simon and Raphe were about to leave.

"Thank you guys for coming and putting up with all of my shenanigans." I told them as I hugged them both.

"No problem V" Raphe said as he shook everyones hands and they headed their separate way.

We debating on what to do next.

"Who's up for 5 am Pizza?" Izzy asked referring to the sign on the pizza place next to the bowling alley.

"Pregnant girl!" I said raising my hand. We skipped over to the place and enjoyed morning pizza.

"So lightwood Banes, what's the next step for you three?" Clary asked us. I smiled at the question of the future.

"We'll move in to that pretty little house we bought and enjoy the time at the beach." Magnus said as he leaned back in his chair.

"Get ready to push out two babies from a lemon size hole." I said without thinking. Jace made a face.

"Take care of two babies." Alec finished.

"Is there going to be a wedding?" Jace asked.

"Oh yeah. We should probably plan one of those. Before or after the baby?" Magnus asked me.

"I kind of want to do it at like 6 months. I want the babies to be apart of it." I told them. I was only a month and a half so I had time.

"We'll start planning once we get moved in and everything. I don't want to put together the nursery yet though." Alec said. I nodded.

"We need a last hurrah." Izzy said. I frowned.

"Aw I didn't mean it like that sweetie. We're still going to have tons of fun and adventure. You're gonna have two husbands to take care of the babies!" Izzy said as she gave me a Parabatai hug.

Having to smuggle Max back into the institute was the easy part of today. After sleeping for a couple of hours, 1 pm rolled around and I know we had to start picking paint colors for the house.

I changed into a tommy Hilfiger bandeau with a pair of short white overalls, white strapped pumps and my hair in a messy bun.

"Let's go!!!" Magnus yelled from the living room.

"Omg your so impatient." Alec yelled from the kitchen. They were both dressed in shorts, t shirts or polos and nikes.

"Your face!" I gasped as I approached Magnus. He looked at me confused.

"Yeah I know it's beautiful." He sassed as he grabbed our keys.

"No there's no make up and your hair is gelled down." Alec said as he pet his beaus head.

"Let's go! After we pick out some paint I want to take you two on a date." Alec said as he took our hands and led us down to the cars.

"Alec Lightwood being a romantic? Is this the parallel universe Clary was talking about?" I asked. Alec glared but smiled.

"Oh and the appliances you picked out are going to be delivered at 3. You've just got to pick out the cabinets and the built in's tomorrow." Magnus reminded us. I clapped my hand excitedly.

"Ah my kitchen!" I yelled as I threw my hands up in the air.

We drove in our cars to the house and I inspected the yard. I wanted to put in some hedges.

"I've also got you a surprise." Alec said. A car pulled up and a small lady stepped out. I raised my eyebrows at the little lady with an ipad.

"hi! My names Nora Burke and I'm here to help you put together your house." She said as he extended her hand. I shook it.

"You got me an interior designer?" I asked for confirmation. He nodded.

"Well hi nora, I'm Valentina." I said as I pulled her into a hug.

She went over schematics of the home with Alec as Magnus and I discussed changing the gate at the front of the house.

"Maybe something a bit grander?" he suggested. All of a sudden a high pitched voice startled us.

"Why hello there new neighbors!" A high pitched voice rang out as we turned around.

"Hi." Magnus said as he stepped to shake her hand.

"My names Milly Heart. It's nice to meet you." She said in her thick southern accent. She was in her 40's with a boob job and a blowout.

"Magnus Bane and Valentina Lockwood-Bane." Magnus introduced.

"Aw ya'll are cousins?" she asked with a weird facial expression.

"Engaged." I said with a smile.

"My god your rock is huge." She said grabbing my hand roughly.

"Go big or go home right?" magnus said with a chuckle.

"You one of those Silicon Valley, 20 year old millionaire types?" she asked letting go of my hand.

"No actually." Mag answered.

"Oh well anyways this if for you guys." She said as she handed me a casserole dish.

"It's to welcome you to the neighborhood. 6 layer cheese enchiladas. Their my signature dish." She said with a large smile.

"Oh thank you so much." I said with a grand old smile.

"No problem hun. You two love birds go enjoy your new home. Don't be a stranger and come by for coffee one day okay?" she asked.

"Of course Milly." Magnus said before we parted ways.

Picking out the paint for the entire house was exhausting. At least I had Nora to help me with most of it. She had everything ready and set.

"Okay so the furniture for the childrens rooms are set right?" she asked me.

"yeah. Everything for there is taken care of." I answered.

"Okay is there any specific design for the remaining four bedrooms and bathrooms?" she asked.

"I want to do a simple 2 night stand, queen size and chair. The bathroom just matching vanities. For the guest house, that's going to be an entire different project for another week."

"Okay I'll draft up some options and email them to you. Did you still want to pick out the furnishings for the Dining room, Family room, Den, Media Room, Game room and outdoor dining room?" she asked.

"I'll pick out the furnishings and order them." I told her. I spent the next 5 hours picking out all of the furniture at this store. I still needed to get everything that was needed for decorations and go grocery shopping. Being domestic is so hard.

"Hey babe" I answered as Alec called me.

"Hey. It's late are you okay?" he asked. Magnus drove us in the direction of the house.

"We're just heading home now." I called.

"Okay when you guys get home, go through the garden door and into the backyard, I have a surprise." He said. Magnus and I looked toward each other.

"Really?" I asked unsure.

"Yeah. You'll love it. See you two!" He said before hanging up promptly.

"Can we get ice cream first?" I asked as we were about to pass a Dairy Queen.

"But alec is waiting." He said trying to reason with me. I turned toward him and gave him the puppy dog eyes.

"But Baby. The babies want ice cream." I said pointing to my miniature stomach.

"Are you going to use that for everything?" he asked he turned into the driveway.

"As long as it till works."
