Bane of my Existence

California

  Taking care of Trixie this week was like a preview into having a daughter of my own. I completely stole her from Lucifer and we did a ton of mother daughtery things. We went shopping at some point everyday, we went to the American girl shop, we had spa days, baked cookies, went to the pool, had tea parties in central park and had the most fun ever. Even Alec and Magnus warmed up to her. They proved to me what I already knew, that Magnus Bane and Alec lightwood were going to be amazing parents. This experience also gave Teddy a preview of what it is going to be like to have little siblings. Trixie had him playing with barbies, baking chocolate cake and playing in the pool with her.

We were eating breakfast in the garden when the phone rang. Magnus got up to get it as Alec was cleaning some food off of Trixie's bunny. Izzy was sipping some coffee and playing around with Trixie. She liked having a little girl around to dress up and practice make up on.

"V it's for you." Mag said as he rejoined me on the table. I grabbed the phone and took the call near the pool.

"Go for Vale."

"Darling it's the devil." Lucifer announced.

"I have caller ID. The area code said the depths of hell."

"Funny. I've called to inform you that tonight I will be taking Trixie back to Los Angeles. Her mother wants her back."

"Luci no!" I grumbled. I didn't want to give the little girl back.

"Sorry my dear. Detective Decker and Detective Douche request their daughter back."

"Okay fine. I'm coming with though."

"Clear it with your fiances first."

"I'll bring someone with."

"Of course you will. I'll pick you guys up at 7."

"Bye Luci" I said before hanging up.

I returned to the breakfast club and prepared to inform them about the sudden travel arrangments.

"Guess what Trix!"

"What?" she asked excitedly.

"Todays going to be the most amazing day! You know why?"

"Why?" she asked.

"Because tonight you get to see your mommy and daddy!"

"Aw but I don't want to leave!"

"You can always come back Trix, You're always welcomed."

She smiled up at me before eating her pancakes.

"So what's up with tonight?" Alec asked.

"Lucifers taking Trixie home tonight. I've decided that I'm going to come. Anyone want to come with me?" I asked the group.

"I would love nothing more than to lay out in the sun of Los Angeles, but I have a thing in Idris." Izzy grumbled.

"I've got a mission with Jace and Clary." Alec said with a sigh.

"I'm perfectly free!" Magnus said with a smile.

"Me too!" Teddy said. Trixie smiled and jumped into Teddy's lap with a thud.

"Yay Teddy's coming!" she cheered. I took a quick picture of the two of them before resuming to normal conversation.

Now I realize that I might have gone a little overboard with the buying for Trixie. We put her in a spare room and she unpacked everything she brought into the little wardrobe.

"Trix we have a problem." Magnus said as he sat down next to the little girl on the floor.

"What maggy?" she asked.

"you have so much stuff!" he exclaimed as he playfully glared at me.

I'm pretty sure that I bought her an entire new wardrobe, toys, dolls, bags and a kids quad. Yeah I know, it was kind of dumb to buy her a ATV, but it was pink and she wanted to ride with Teddy.

I grabbed two of the suitcases we bought her and started packing up her belongings. We ended up with two suitcases filled with thousands of dollars of clothes, shoes, accessories and toys. We also ended up with 7 store bags full of clothes and her ATV.

"Okay Trix. Luci's going to be here at 7 and it's one, so what do you want to do?" I asked the miniature girl. She gave me a thoughtful look for a second before coming up with an idea.

"Let's go to the circus!" she exclaimed.

My favorite thing about having Teddy is that I can exploit him for most of my personal gain. I had him take Trixie to the circus while I helped Mag pack for Trixie and for ourselves.

"Will you pack for me?" I begged Maggy as I curled into Alec's side on the bed. This was one of the rare times we had downtime. Trix was with Teddy and Cas was with a cousin.

"What are you going to take?" he asked me.

"Some shorts, tank tops, cute dresses, skirts and swimsuits." I told him. He nodded and grabbed my duffle and strutted into the closet. I fell asleep on Alec's chest for half an hour before Mag poked me to get up.

"I'm tired." I grumbled. I really needed the sleep.

"It's 3 and the kids are going to be back in a little bit. What's the plan for tonight?"

"Left overs and then last minute packing." I told him. I texted Teddy asking him to keep her out of the house until four and then retuned to sleep.

When I finally woke up it was almost 5 and Alec was doing work.

"Ew paperwork." I grumbled as I sat up. He smirked down at me and handed me a pen.

"Sign here will you?" he told me as he shoved paper into my chest.

"What is it?" I asked skeptically. It was written in some ancient language of the shadown hunters. It was a dirrivitive of Latin so I understood some parts.

"It's just a contract for when you give brith. There's a special hospital that specializes in down worlder births in the mundane world. It's mearly a precaution." He told me. I decided to take his word for it and went to take a shower.

When I got out, I changed into my plane clothes. We were taking a super jet to LA so we'd be there by 10pm. I grabbed a high kneck sleeveless mini dress with a pair of pink platform pumps. I grabbed my purse and threw it downstairs next to my luggage.

"Trix sweetie where are you?" I called out for the little girl.

"In here!" she yelled from upstairs. I trudged back upstairs and found her in Teddy's room.

"What are you going to wear sweetie?" I asked her. She shrugged her shoulders. I held up a finger and went through her suitcase. I grabbed a white crochet dress with knee length booths for the little girl.

"Change." I told her and I handed her the clothes.

She ran off into Teddy's bathroom and I collapsed onto Teddy's bed.

"Mom, you seem so tired." Teddy said as he finished getting ready.

"No joke. I'm gonna sleep good on the plane."

Hours later we stepped off at the airport. It just turned 10:15 in los Angeles and I was ready to start enjoying this mini vacation. I threw my hair into a bun and walked off the plane. There was an SUV for us, Lucifer's car and truck for Trixie's car.

"Let's head over to Agent Deckers. Follow me." He said as he got into his car. Magnus followed behind as I slummed it in the backseat with Trix. I fixed her hair as she plaid on her ipad.

"When am I going to see you guys again?" Trix asked.

"Well we're gonna be here for the weekend, so how about tomorrow we do brunch? We can do a full tea party. I know just the place." I told the little girl.

"I can wear the dress you got me!" Trix said.

"Perfect sweetie." I said as I gave her a quick hug as we turned into the driveway of the bungalow.

"Cute." Teddy said as he stepped out. Mag opened my door and assisted me in getting out of the car.

"Lucifer." A voice said from the doorway. I adjusted my assets before following Magnus to the doorway.

"Detective this is Valentina, Magnus and Teddy." He said as he introduced us. I went to approach her as the guys grabbed Trixie's stuff.

"Nice to meet you." I told her.

"Nice to meet you too." She said as she shook my hand.
She watched Magnus a nd Teddy unloading the car.

"I hope you don't mind, I kind of spoilt Trix here a bit. I might have gotten a little carried away." I told the detective as Teddy unloaded the ATV.

"That's okay." She mumbled as she put on a smile for Trixie. A man walked out of the bungalow.

"Are you detective douche?" I asked all excitedly. He nodded slowly. I smiled before I socked him in the face.

"What was that for?" He yelled back at me.

"That's for questioning my parenting." I said as I smiled up at him and extended my arm.

"I'm Valentina Nightsbane." I said as waited for him to shake my hand.

"Hi." He mumbled.

"Would you like to come in for coffee?" Chloe asked us. Lucifer decided on a yes because he barged into the house. We all followed him as he started opening cabinets.

"You let him in your house often?" I asked confused.

"No, he breaks in and makes breakfast." Chloe explained. I raised an eyebrow but nodded.

"Mommy I want to show you guys what Vale and Maggy got me!" she said as she unzipped the suitcases. She spent a half an hour showing them everything.

"That's really too much." Dan tried to say.

"Please. It gave her something to do this week." Magnus said. I rolled my eyes.

"Mommy Vale offered to take us to breakfast! Can we go?" Trix asked her mom.

"Yeah, I heard of this place that offers high tea in the mornings."

"That'd be great." Chloe said. I nodded and gave her my number.

"Text me in the morning. I'll set up a reservation." I told her. She nodded.

We ended up staying for a while before I could not bear to stay awake any longer.

I snuggled into bed with Magnus as we face times Alec goodnight.
