Mentally it seemed easy enough. But, the reality of everything it took to prepare for prom caused Emily to decide it wasn't as great as she originally thought it would be. There was too much to go through and no amount of preparation calmed her nerves. By the next night she looked spectacular and even had a date, but Emily still wasn't too eager to go. She had a bad feeling that just wouldn't go away.
Her caramel colored hair hung in sweet curls that cascaded down her back while some of her hair was held back with a sparkly gemmed clip. Her shimmery dress flowed with each step she took. Her contacts-covered green eyes were highlighted with a smokey color that made them pop.
She looked amazing, but Emily still felt hesitent about actually going. By the time Jake showed up dressed in a tux and ready to go, there really wasn't a persuading him into not going. He was adament they were going to have a blast. Emily was just adament nothing good was coming from this. She couldn't quite place her finger on why, she just felt strongly she shouldn't bother leaving the comforts of her house tonight. All she really wanted to do was order a pizza and watch the Back to the Future marathon on AMC. It was safe inside the comforts of her family room - Declan couldn't get to her.
But, it was too late to back out after all the heavy preparation. She was dressed, Jake was dressed, her mother and his grandmother made them pose for what seemed like an endless amount of pictures, and Ben even skype called to laugh at Jake dressed in a monkey suit.
The worst part for Emily was when Madison and Sylvia motioned for Jake to hold her around the waist. She shook her head vigoursly. It was bad enough she cast so very deep in the friend zone by Jake as it was, having Jhim act as an actual date around her was just painful.
Still, Emily couldn't get her mother to telepathically listen to her that she didn't want to do it - her mother was oblivious to her distress. Madison took too many embarassing prom photos of the two of them, Emily knew she was going to regret her mothers evil camera every time she walked past any prom photos available for viewing on the living room's mantel.
By the time she and Jake had arrived downtown Austin nearly a forty-five minutes after pictures, Emily still had the tiny nagging feeling that this was a bad idea.
"I still don't want to do it" she admitted as Jake opened her door to allow her out. He was being strangely gentlemenly with purposely doing chivalrous things a normal prom date would do.
"Who would thunk it....You were the one jumping up and down for prom a few weeks ago while I was adament in not going, and now you're one all doom-and-gloom" he snorted, grabbing ahold of Emily's hand.
Being weary of the contact, Emily looked at him strangely only for Jake to shrug defensively. "What? I can hold your hand any other time just not a prom?"
Emily snorted and squeezed his hand back. "It's not that....It's just...You know."
Jake rolled his eyes as he reached into his pocket to branish the tickets for the person in front of the large club Oasis.
"You still think that creepy girl was psychic?"
"I'm having a hard time believing what she said was coincidence when it proved to be true" Emily admitted as Jake led her inside the large club. Music could be heard a couple rooms over where the large entertainment area was used for weddings and social parties. Familair people could be recognized throughout the large walk in area where a small photography place was set up along with an area to leave coats and purses.
