Twenty-one weeks pregnant and Emily was still going back and forth over discovering the sex of her baby. Part of her wanted to know so she could fully invest in either buying pink or blue clothing, while the other side of her thought it best not to know. If she did find out, that would make her have second thoughts about keeping the baby and not possibly placing it up for adoption. Right now, Emily was hoping the baby was a girl. She inwardly hoped and prayed she wouldn't give birth to a little boy with striking looks that resembled Declan.
Considering the Daz family had been living in a hotel for well over six weeks, the family wanted some closure before they attempted relocating to another location. That's where Dr. O'Hare came in with a plan. That was why Emily was at the fancy restaurant in downtown Austin on a gloriously summer day.
"Please tell me again why we're doing this......" Emily said, keeping her eyes trained on the table before her. She needed constant reassurances. This plan was frightening to her. If it worked, it was brilliant. Still, it was scary. They were playing with fire around two individuals who liked dabbling with gasoline.
Dr. O'Hare brought Jake, Emily, and her mother to the fancy restaurant today with the intention of using a proverbial stick to poke her supposed stalker.
Alan seemed to have specifically taken a special interest in her stalker case. Whether this was because he felt guilty over not previously helping her, Emily wasn't sure. Perhaps he was taking an interest in her well-being solely because man who murdered Heather Mackerson may or may not be the father of Emily's unborn child.
Detective Mark Kinkaid was pushing for Emily to get a paternity test to establish if Declan or the mysterious killer is the father, but, Emily wasn't going to do such a thing. Whoever her child's father was, that didn't stop her from feeling protective of her little nugget. She wasn't going to do the invasive procedure that could place her baby in harm's way. Her overprotectiveness was probably stemming from the fact that her animals were brutally killed. Emily would be damned if anyone hurt her nugget the way her beloved pets were killed. That fact also made her feel uneasy over the idea of placing the baby up for adoption. She felt certain she loved her little nugget already regardless of its psychotic father.
"Relax, Glasses – you know the plan" Alan said, scanning his menu. "We're here to place you in the limelight before we kick up the hornets' nest."
"So basically, you thought it best to use my daughter a bait" Madison countered in a furious whisper, wrapping her arm tightly over Emily's shoulders. She was feeling as protective over her daughter as Emily felt for her nugget. Madison fought hard against this outing, citing it was just a bad idea to cause her stalker to want to follow her. Dr. O'Hare managed to convince the Daz family that the public outing was what was needed in order to pinpoint which Carter sibling was in fact the guilty one.
Tom was currently picking up Ben from the airport. In the meantime, Alan O'Hare devised an idea that he spoke with the family along time before they put the plan into action. He wanted to scope the place he knew the Carter family would be having lunch this afternoon after church. Emily thought being in the same place as the family was asinine. Dr. O'Hare, thought otherwise.
"Madison, I'm not an idiot" Dr. O'Hare said evenly, his eyes scanning the menu in a thoughtful manner. "If I thought your pregnant daughter would be in any harm whatsoever, I wouldn't have brought her here."
"Are you sure about this?" Madison pushed, trying very hard to keep her eyes fixed on her table instead of the Carter family evenly across the room. "I mean, what's the point of bringing Jake and flaunting his relationship with Emily in their faces? Wont that make them mad...?"
