"Sometimes death
seems better than the migraine in my head."

. . . . .

"Josh!"

Hands gripped my shoulders tightly as they shook me awake. I gasped for air, my eyes shooting open in fear of what I might see. I coward away from the touch, but when I looked up at the person in front of me relief took over.

"Tyler." I breathed out, not hesitating to wrap my arms around him in a tight embrace. I had never been so happy to see my best friend.

When we pulled away I could see the concern and worry written all over his face and in his eyes. I looked away, in hopes that it would buffer him from asking me what was wrong. Tyler knew all about my dreams, and up until recently we both had thought they were starting to get better. Oh how wrong we were.

I forced a smile onto my face as I turned to look up at him from my spot on the bed. "Why are you home a day early?"

"Oh you know..." He shrugged, shifting his weight from one foot to the other as he stood in front of me. "It was boring there so we thought we'd just head home."

"Uhhuh." I rolled my eyes, knowing that he was lying and the only reason he was back was because he didn't like leaving me alone for too long.

I pressed my hand against my chest to slow my still racing heart as I stood up from the bed and walked straight passed Tyler and toward the bathroom. As relieved as I was to have Tyler back in the house, it still made me feel like I was some adult baby who always needed to be looked after. I didn't want to put that burden on Tyler, or anyone for that matter.

When I got downstairs I couldn't help but smile as I took a seat at the counter and watched as Tyler made food. It felt nice that we could so easily fall back into the same routine like he hadn't even left. He set a mug of coffee down in front of me, a funny look on his face as he did so.

"What?" I asked, hoping it had nothing to do with my dreams.

"Nothing," He squeaked out, but I could see a smirk growing on his face.

"Ty-"

"Bryce stopped by earlier," He interrupted me and instantly my cheeks grew hot.

I glanced toward the kitchen clock to see it was almost 10am and I wondered how I had even slept that long to begin with.

"She seems pretty cool." He went on, the smirk on his lips only getting bigger.

Tyler and I were completely different in the way that he liked to push people's buttons and I liked to avoid absolutely everything and in times like these our personalities really liked to clash.

I rolled my eyes for the second time this morning, tapping my fingers against the counter top. "You know she broke into our garage."

"She's also really pretty." Tyler concluded and I parted my lips to say something snarky, but only clamped them shut and nodded along.

"She told me all about it actually." He laughed like it was some inside joke that I wouldn't understand. Damn him for being such a people person.

"Anyway..." He turned back toward the stove nonchalantly. "Her and Johnny are coming over later so you can teach him the drums."

I'm groaned and covered my face with my hands. I couldn't believe him sometimes, he literally had no filter and it's gotten both of us into trouble on too many occasions.
