The sky was still a clear blue, but the ocean breeze was a bit cold. The group decided that it they would probably go swimming around two or three and spend the majority of the morning looking at the shops and eating out.
Evan offered to pay for eight people at a nice restaurant. He was slightly expecting at least one person to protest and pay for them self but nobody had. It wasn't as if he couldn't pay for it though. This YouTube "career" provided him with more money than he had use for so it didn't bother him.
They agreed to eat around ten and so they still had an hour and a half to walk around the area and check the shops.
It was actually quite difficult for all of them to walk together, even if the sidewalk was pretty wide. Berenice and David walked in the front, holding hands and smiling. Craig called it 'the honeymoon phase', which seemed to be an appropriate term. Behind them were Evan and Sydney, casually walking alongside each other. Every so often Evan would lean closer to her and whisper something in her ear, either making her laugh or hit his arm playfully.
Evanee couldn't help but smile at the two. It was weird knowing that used to be her, but that was so long ago. He looked happy. They both did and no matter what happened in high school, they both deserved to be happy.
"You're staring and smiling kind of funny. Please don't tell me that you're imagining a double murder," Craig whispered, uncomfortably close to her ear.
The raven haired girl was pretty certain that boys who smelled like a heavenly mixture of cologne and peppermint only existed in books, but Craig disproved Evanee's theory. He, in fact, smelled exactly like that and it was amazing.
I will exercise extreme self control and I will definitely not cling to him while sniffing his shirt
"Are you smelling me?"
Extreme self control failed. Mission abort.
"Sorry, I thought I smelled garbage and you're the only relatively similar thing around here," Evanee played off, winking at him playfully.
She suddenly felt her body being lifted off the sidewalk and tossed over his shoulder.
"This is the second time I've been carried today and I'm not happy about it, Craig."
Their friends had stopped to stare at them.
"Come on Craig, put her down," David said smiling.
Just then, Jonathan and Tyler began chanting. "Sacrifice. Sacrifice. Sacrifice."
Evanee raised her upper body as much as she could do that she could glare at the two. "Fuck you guys! Fight me!"
Jonathan raised two tight fists and began lightly punching Evanee's back. It was hard to fight back when being held upside down.
"How will you learn not to call me trash if I put you down?"
They continued walking, stopping at certain stores. Though, Craig never put her down. He carried her body over his shoulder when they looked around the shops and when they walked down the sidewalk. Did it earn a few suspicious glances? Yes, but Craig didn't give a flying fuck.
He absolutely loved messing with Evanee.
"The reservation at that one place is in like ten minutes so you guys want to head there now?"
