The young woman wasn't sure what time she had fallen back asleep. Maybe it had been hours or mere minutes; she couldn't remember.
When she had woken up, her head was pounding and her eyes refused to open fully. Still, she could see her friends. The three of them had all found places in her room to sleep.
Craig was sleeping at the edge of the bed, near Evanee's feet. Jonathan was sleeping on the air mattress on the floor and Evan. She paused for a moment. Evan wasn't in sight. She was sure she had seen him.
"You okay there?" She heard. It was only then that she realized that the Canadian boy was laying down beside her. She was tucked comfortably under his arm.
"Yeah," she breathed out. "My head hurts a bit, but I'll be fine."
He stretched a bit before getting up from the bed. "I'll be right back, okay? You're fine with Advil?"
Evanee nodded. "Thanks."
"No problem."
With that, Evan was off to the store and the young woman got up to go to the bathroom. The sight of her own face had her questioning if she was the same person.
Her raven black hair was a bit curly and ruffled at the top of her head. Her green eyes looked dull and puffy. Tears still stained her cheeks. She despised it. She looked weak, vulnerable. Everything she didn't want to be.
Quickly, she washed her face, brushed her teeth, and brushed her hair. Evanee also noticed that her hair was getting longer. She would have to cut it soon.
Or maybe she should let it grow out like before. She was unsure.
By the time she went back to the guest room, Craig had disappeared. Jonathan was still sleeping on the mattress with his mouth wide open and soft snores escaping him.
"Jon? Jon?" Evanee said, shaking him lightly.
She yelped as she was pulled down and fell on top of the mattress.
"You're cuddly," Jonathan mumbled tiredly, clutching onto her.
"And you're a butt. It's time to get up," she pulled away from Jonathan's hug and got up again.
"Five more minutes."
Evanee left him to sleep for a bit more and went downstairs to see Craig rummaging through the bag he brought.
"What are you looking for?"
"My toothbrush," Craig answered, pulling something out of the bag. "Here it is. Now where's my underwear?"
Evanee smiled at him, which he returned.
"I like seeing you smile, Evanee. You deserve to be happy."
"Thank you. Now go get ready and wake Jonathan up. We should go out for breakfast."
Craig nodded and walked upstairs. A few minutes into her saddened daydream, there was a knock at the front door and Evanee let Evan inside.
"I got Advil and I also know it's that time of the month so I bought ice cream and pads. I wasn't sure if I should have bought tampons but pads were a safer bet, you know?"
