Craving Forgiveness

You sat in the room frustratingly running your hands through your hair when there was a knock on the door.

"Come in." You reluctantly said.

Raven entered smiling. "Are you ready for your engagement dinner?" She asked and you sighed not being able to answer.

"Atarah. I don't want to be that person but it's been two years. Erik isn't coming back. You have to move on. Alex loves you. Don't you love him too?"

You nodded,"I do. I love him but I don't think I'm in love with him. I want to be. He's amazing I want to be in love with him so much but all I can think about is Erik. What's wrong with me?"

"There's nothing wrong you you Atarah. What you and Erik had was special it's something many people never even get a taste of but you have and you should be glad. I'm sorry it didn't work out. I truly am but you can't keep punishing yourself. Erik is the one who messed up. He's the one who left. None of this is your fault. There's a man out there who loves you and wants to be with you. Forget Erik."

You gave her a smile and stood up," you're right." You smoothed out your fitted white dress and turned away from the mirror. "Let's go!"

You and Alex walked into the banquet hall holding hands as the guests cheered.
He leaned into you,"did I tell you how beautiful you look?"

You smiled," only a million times."

When you reached the table he pulled out your chair and you sat and he took a seat beside you.

You all talked and laughed all evening enjoying your guests and loved ones.

"You alright princess?" Alex asked causing you to snap out of your trance like state.

"Yeah, yeah I'm fine. Just a bit tired I guess."

"Want me to take you upstairs?" He asked and you nodded.

He grabbed your hand and carefully led you out of the room.

"Are you sure you're alright?" He asked again once in the elevator.

You nodded silently, he wrapped his arm around your waist and pulled you to him.

"It's okay to talk to me."

You looked up at him," I really am just tired. I was up all night with wedding plans."

"Can't believe I get to marry the most beautiful woman alive."

You smiled and playfully pushed his chest," oh stop it you."

He stroked your cheek before leaning down to kiss you.

The kiss was warm and sweet. Not completely dead but not like Erik's.

You pulled away and sighed happily.

Alex made you happy. He was sweet, funny, caring, smart, hardworking and selfless. Pretty much the exact opposite of Erik. But with Erik there was an undeniable fire. Everything about him called out to you.

But Raven was right.

Erik wasn't coming back.

"Do you think you'll be okay alone?"
He opened to door to the hotel room and you nodded and kissed him.

"I'm a big girl remember."

You smiled at you," I'll be downstairs if you need me call the front desk okay?"

"Yes. Now shoo."

A/n: sorry this so so short I just kinda wanted to post something. Finals are coming up and I've got tons of work I'm avoiding so here's a chapter.
