"What do you mean?" He asked concerningly.

"I mean killing can change you. For the worst. The feeling of power, of control is tempting. It's a good feeling but it isn't good for you."

"I promised myself I wouldn't get like that again." You gave him a strange look and he continued," I've killed and hurt a lot of people looking for the man who killed my mother. I was ruthless and hard hearted. I didn't care who I hurt. I enjoyed causing harm. I can easily kill someone knowing that makes me feel powerful. People are afraid to die. Exploiting their fears gets me what I want. And I loved the idea of that. Then I met you. I saw the fear in your eyes. You didn't want me anywhere near you and my world shattered. I spent so much time being a better person. For you. And I haven't looked back since and I'm glad I haven't." He kissed your palm before looking up at you.

"I'm glad too. I always knew you would never hurt me."

"Why were you scared?"

"You changed." You answered truthfully. "You looked soulless and emotionless. Uninhabited. Empty. I knew you wouldn't hurt me but I was worried about everyone else."

His brows furrowed," I'm sorry. It won't happen again."

You smiled and kissed his cheek," I know."

Erik ordered room service along with some strawberries and champagne to officially celebrate your engagement.

He fed you strawberries as you two laughed and talked all night.

You soon fell asleep in his arms.

Hours later you awoke to the sun beaming in your face.

You rolled over to kiss Erik before getting out of the bed when you realized that he was gone.

You abruptly sat up and searched the room for him.

You looked beside you an noticed a letter.

Had to run out for a bit. Stay here. I'm not asking. I'll be back soon.

The nerve of that man! You paced the room angrily.
He left you here. You were supposed to work together and he left you.
Can't say you didn't see it coming.. but still.

You huffed and puffed for the next few moments as you showered and ate the food Erik left for you.

You paced the floor some more before Erik returned.

"Hello darling-"

"Don't talk to me." You quickly rebutted.

"Don't be that way sweetheart. I had to run out to the store and-"

"Christ Erik! Can't you stop lying to me for one second?!? Why do you keep lying? Do you think I'm going to hurt you or something? I know you didn't go to the store. I'm not an idiot."

"I'm sorry. I agreed to bring you along not to let you get in harms way."

You raked your hand through your hair.

"Atarah. I'm sorry I lied."

"You say this every time and then you lie again."

"But darling I-"

"Save it Erik!" You ran past him leaving to room.

You ran all the way down stairs and out of the hotel making sure he wasn't following you.

You needed a drink so you wandered the streets until you found a bar a few blocks away.

You drank some beer and cooled down a bit.
You never really drank beer but Erik got you used to it.

You walked outside and took in your surroundings. The city was beautiful. Very quaint.

You saw someone out of the cover of your eye. You looked over at the man. He was dark skinned and tall. With somewhat of an afro.
He looked in your direction and you got a better look at him.

"Dad?!" Escaped your lips and the man looked intently at you before a surprised look crossed his face as well.
